This is Apple's secret fitness lab where employees helped gather over 18,000 hours of data

In order to properly test the Apple Watch, Apple had to create a 23,000 square foot fitness lab. The fitness lab held over 10,000 sessions and collected over 18,000 hours of data.

After years of rumors in regards to the Apple Watch, Apple finally announced their first wearable last September. But, in order to insure that the Apple Watch's fitness components functioned properly, Apple collected a large quantity of health data at it's newly constructed 23,000 square foot fitness lab.

In order to keep the project secretive, Apple did not allow any outsiders or cameras into the lab. Over the course of two years, Apple monitored employees in a variety of different fitness activities and environments. Apple has conducted over 10,000 fitness sessions accumulating over 18,000 hours of fitness data. While general exercise monitoring might seem like enough, Apple took it a step further by creating climate chambers that would simulate colder or warmer temperatures.

The Apple Watch will make its debut in April starting at $349 USD. For those on the fence, be sure to print out a template or head over to mixyourwatch to create your own Apple Watch masterpiece.
