Twitter acquires editorial newsletter tool Revue, makes pro features free

Microblogging platform Twitter is commonly used by people to stay up to date with the latest trends and ongoing events in the world. Embracing this role, the social media giant has acquired the professional writing tool Revue to enable an easier writing and publishing process for writers.

Following the purchase of the editorial tool, Twitter has brought a few changes to Revue. Writers will now be able to integrate newsletter subscriptions for their Revue profiles through the social networking platform. They will also be able to interact with their followers and monetize their writings more easily.

Kayvon Beykpour, product lead at Twitter, detailed the company's future plans for Revue:

"We will continue to invest in Revue as a standalone service, and its team will remain focused on improving the ways writers create their newsletters, build their audience and get paid for their work. We’re also expanding their team and hiring for key roles across engineering, design, research and data science. Over time, this team will build more discovery, reading, and conversational experiences centered around long-form content on Twitter."

Lastly, from this day forward all of the premium features offered by Revue Pro will be free for all users. Twitter has also decided to slash the cost of paid newsletters to 5%. According to the social media giant, this move was motivated by a desire to increase writers' revenue from Revue subscriptions.
