Ubisoft announces Gods & Monsters, new open-world adventure game following Greek mythology

Ubisoft ended its 2019 E3 presentation today with something special, a brand new IP by the developers behind Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Titled Gods & Monsters, it is an open-world adventure game that will set players on a "quest to save the Greek gods" while fighting various monsters from Greek mythology. Check out the announcement trailer above.

Here's how Ubisoft describes the setting and the ultimate God saving quest players will be embarking on:

Embark on a journey to the Isle of the Blessed, taken over by dangerous creatures of mythology. Prove your legendary heroism by taking on their leader, Typhon, the deadliest monster in all of mythology in a face-off for the age.

Looking at the "painted world" art style and maybe even the blue weapon held by the main character, some will certainly draw comparisons between The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and this title quite easily. Since Ubisoft also confirmed godly powers players can use to fight "on the ground and air", a glider, armor sets, as well as dungeons and puzzles for this open-world title, those comparisons will only get even stronger.

Gods & Monsters will be available on February 25, 2020 on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. This will also be available via Ubisoft's new Uplay+ subscription program as well as Google's Stadia game streaming service.
