UK customers to get real time XP support

Windows XP customers get real time online support during business hours from Microsoft in the UK.

After a successful trial, Microsoft Limited today announced that it will be one of three Microsoft subsidiaries adding to its support offering for its latest desktop operating system, Windows XP, by providing customers with the ability to chat live online with a Microsoft Support Professional for an immediate support response as part of the Microsoft Online Assisted Support workflow, when the operating system is launched on October 25th.

Real Time Chat will be open to customers who are entitled to Windows XP support from Microsoft, during business hours Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. excluding English public holidays.

Nick McGrath, Windows group marketing manager at Microsoft Limited explains: "Customers will see more opportunities to diagnose and correct problems themselves because of the online Help and Support features and they will also be able to submit a support incident to Microsoft and get support responses online more easily than before. However, the addition of being able to get in touch with someone at Microsoft and chat to them online adds a whole new level to the Windows XP support we're providing to customers. This added functionality is what our customers have been asking for and we're pleased that the UK along with the US and Korea will be leading this service."

When a customer contacts Microsoft PSS, all customer information is protected by Microsoft Passport authentication; the system data is stored securely, similar to that of an online ordering service. In addition, this system configuration information would be used only to assist in the resolution of that specific customer's problem.
