Video shows how much better GTA V looks on PS4 compared with PS3

Alongside its announcement that Grand Theft Auto V would finally be making its way to the PC later this year, Rockstar also delighted owners of next-gen consoles by confirming that the game is coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

So far, GTA V has only been available on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but its leap to the newer generation will, as you would expect, bring some considerable improvements in how the game looks, making the city of Los Santos and its outlying areas in the great state of San Andreas feel just that little bit more real.

BGR spotted a video that was posted yesterday on YouTube, which compares the look of the upcoming PS4 version with that of its predecessor. Unsurprisingly, the new version looks even more awesome than the digital environment that PS3 gamers have been enjoying for several months now.

There's so much more detail in the PS4 version, with individual blades of glass beautifully rendered where the PS3 makes do with more basic textures. Lighting details are much richer and more complex on the PS4, and there's also far more activity around the city, with more traffic and pedestrians making the metropolis seem busier and more 'alive'.

It's not like there's anything wrong with the game on the PS3 - as on the Xbox 360, it looks absolutely lovely - but let's face it, the PS4 version just looks better, and Xbox One owners will hopefully be able to look forward to similar improvements later this year.

For now, check out the full video below to see the comparisons in all their digital glory:
