What is MSN planning?

Ever wondered what MSN are up to lately? Wonder no more...

According to sources close to MSN the guys over at MSN are planning several interesting products for this year and next. MSN is working on various new bits of software from the Information Services win32 client team. There are small MSN Toolbar updates coming, a new blogging tool, a new "internet information organizer" client and some pre-longhorn clients.

New - Installable unified search application

This will allow users to run search queries in a rich manner locally on Windows XP and over the internet too.

New - Unified Communication Client

This new client will allow users to marry email and instant messaging. Although it's not clear what this client will consist of, this technology is slowly pushing towards MSN 10 and Longhorn.

MSN Explorer 9.1

This is a new client update for MSN Premium & Plus subscribers. It's mainly designed as a bug fix version but has caused a lot of problems for beta testers since its initial launch earlier this week. You do have to wonder why 9.1 and not 9.5 like MSN 8 to 8.5. MSN 9.1 is due to be finished in as little as 6 weeks.

All in all it's a packed year for MSN and we have to hope that all these promised features get finished in time and are of the usual high standard of MSN applications.
