Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 rolls out to the XOLO Win Q1000

Microsoft's latest non-preview OS update is now available for XOLO's newest Windows Phone, the Win Q1000. Update 2 adds new features such as more granular app permissions and a revised Settings hub.

Back in February, Indian hardware brand XOLO launched the Win Q1000, its second Windows Phone handset after releasing the Q900 last year. Just a few months after its release, the Q1000 is now getting an OS update.

Owners of the Win Q1000 should now find that they're able to download and install Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 - the very latest non-preview release of Microsoft's mobile OS.

Only a handful of devices have so far received this update. When Neowin asked Microsoft in April about its plans to roll out this version, the company said it would only be made available for a limited number of handsets.

Still, those that don't receive Update 2 aren't missing out on much; it includes only a few minor, but welcome improvements, including a redesigned Settings hub, always-on VPN profiles, more granular app permissions, and support for Bluetooth keyboards.
