Windows Updates on CD

Testers for Microsoft's Windows Update have been alerted today that a new test will start in a few days time which involves burning an ISO image to a CD. In an unusual email the Windows Update Beta Program Team listed the only details of the test as downloading an ISO, burning it and then checking that the interface offers the correct set of updates, is workable and usable, and that the instructions are clear.

Is this a new way that Microsoft is handling updates? By providing updates on a CD to its users who do not have fast connections will cut the amount of vulnerable systems and ensure users at home (who are most vulnerable) will be protected. The beta is scheduled to start on the 7th of November and run for approximately 10 days. We'll keep you posted.
