The digital ID app, Yoti, has announced that it will help bring back theatre performances to the UK with its testing partner FRANKD. According to the firm, the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre will be hosting a musical called Sleepless and to improve safety, will be performing COVID-19 tests on its cast and crew.
The partnership between Yoti and FRANKD enables individuals to receive their COVID test results directly on the app within 30 minutes of being tested and because they’re on Yoti, those tested will be able to verify that they’re COVID-19-free.
The cast and crew will be asked to download the free Yoti app and secure their account with a phone number, PIN, and security selfie to ensure that they’ve been tested. The app can then be used as a type of certificate for the cast and crew as they interact with one another. To add a test to the app, the user will need to scan the QR code on their test kit, a mouth swab is then taken and analysed in a portable machine. Once the results are in, they will automatically be fed to the Yoti app.
The spacious venue will ensure that the audience will not come in contact with the cast and crew. Still, the audience will be forced to observe social distancing between themselves, asked to wear masks as well as undergo temperature checks.
While Yoti has not been adopted on a wide scale by the public in the UK to verify that they are free from COVID-19, the firm has partnered up with the NHS in England to provide a secure digital ID card solution that puts employees’ NHS ID cards on their phone. The app displays NHS workers’ COVID-19 test history and the app can be used to prove their ID online and in-person with the tap of a button or scan of a QR code.
