YouTube celebrates the moments, memes, and people that made 2014

It's that time of year again, yes the holidays, but it's also a time when everyone starts unleashing their videos, articles, and podcasts to recap the year. YouTube is no exception and has unveiled their own video that celebrates the moments, memes, and people that made 2014.

The 'YouTube Rewind' video attempts to encapsulate the most interesting moments and sounds from 2014 in six minutes and thirty five seconds. The upbeat soundtrack is mixed by DJ Earworm and jumps from Pharrell's "Happy" to Frozen's "Let It Go" and everything in between.

Utilizing some of YouTube's more well-known stars, such as PewDiePie, John and Hank Green, Nice Peter and Epic Lloyd and many others, we get glimpses of popular YouTube videos being reenacted, along with reenactments of real life events like the ALS Icebucket Challenge that had many major celebrities participating in the challenge for a good cause.

While you may not recognize every meme, moment, and person in the video, YouTube has listed each participants channel in the description of the video. Although this certainly doesn't encapsulate everything that happened in 2014, it's good to watch it in retrospect and connect with things that we might have forgotten about over the course of the year.
