Zoom announces hardware subscription service in the U.S.

Zoom announced today the launch of its new hardware subscription service. The new offering is intended to expand the availability of the company's videoconferencing service to customers through subscription options for phones and meeting rooms.

The 'Zoom Phone Hardware as a Service' solution comprises eight subscription tiers, though this does not include the corresponding license, which is a separate product. This service costs between $5.99 per month to $60 per month, depending on which subscription you choose. The other service is Zoom Rooms, with a starting price of $75 per month up to $200 per month.

Zoom has partnered with several third-party hardware companies including DTEN, Neat, Poly, and Yealink for the teleconferencing devices. Velchamy Sankarlingam, President of Product and Engineering at Zoom, said in a press release:

“Amazing hardware partnerships are a key part of Zoom’s ecosystem. With many people globally coping with today’s unique challenges, easy access to hardware is critical for offices, distance learning, telehealth, and more. Zoom Hardware as a Service will help users adapt to new work-from-anywhere environments by making it easier than ever before to get access to the latest and greatest hardware for Zoom Rooms and Zoom Phone. “

The hardware subscription service is available only in the U.S. for now. There's no word on whether it will be launched globally.
