Every gamer, every PC gamer (sorry my fellow console users) I know loves to play First Person Shooters and other action games. Maybe it's the thrill of the kill, maybe it's the visceral speed, and maybe it's something else entirely. Either way, PC gamers require fast reflexes and spot on accuracy (usually) to do well in online fragfests. One of the most important parts of a PC gamer's inventory to be used to lay the smack down on others is the mouse. It is also one of the most underrated and least thought of components when a gamer puts together a new gaming rig. Why bother spending money on a puny mouse when you can spend $500 smackers on one of them new fangled Geforce (or ATI) thingamabobs? Well, truth be told, the mouse is an integral part of the gaming experience and whether you want to admit it or not, a good mouse will help you in your online escapades. Enter today's product, the amazing Razer DeathAdder Gaming Mouse. There are only a few companies out there that even cater to the average "hardcore" PC gamer these days. Microsoft makes some good products; Logitech makes some great stuff as well. And then we have Razer, a company known for making "gamers" happy. The DeathAdder is another great product in a long line of great peripherals that Razer has graced us with. First some technical specs for the DeathAdder. It uses an 1800dpi 3G infrared laser, which is fancy talk for really fast compared to the average optical sensor based mouse. It has a 1000Hz "Ultrapolling" feature, or a 1 ms response time, compared to other mice that's really fast. A slick "on-the-fly" sensitivity adjuster, Ultraslick Teflon coated feet that make no sound whatsoever, and a sweet always-on feature so when you go from idle AFK mode in Counter-Strike to butt kicker, there is no problem there. So what happens when you get the box? Well, as with most Razer products the retail packaging is quite attractive. As with the mouse itself, the box is all black and sleek, and the front actually opens up so you can get a perfect look at what you're getting before you buy it. The back of the box lists the features and technical specs. When you open the box, you get the DeathAdder itself obviously, a quick start guide, a user's guide, a driver cd and a certificate of authenticity. The DeathAdder looks very sleek, and this is because Razer covered the top portion with matte while the rest of the most is a glossy looking black plastic. Overall the mouse looks terrific, and has a two tone style look to it. Very nice job indeed. Please note however, the mouse is only designed for right hand use, so if you are left handed, don't complain. On the left side of the mouse, you have two buttons; on top you have the usual three buttons, and the DeathAdder logo. Turn the mouse over and you can see the infrared sensor right in the middle, and the three Teflon coated feet, which gives you silent gliding on most surfaces and helps prevent wobbling while gaming. Of special note is the mouse wheel and DeathAdder logo. Both light up with a brilliant blue hue, and look terrific – especially for gamers with decked out cases or for LAN gaming.
