Nice has anyone played around with the new UI?? Im loving it so far although it is weird to get used to!!!

I must admit they added tons of features I always wished they added..

Another thing I notice is the patch broke some Arcade games.. Ive only tried Squadron Tower Defense, but played multiple AI games (which is now setup as matchmaking as well)..

Edit: Whats even cool is, I havent been playing for a while and my APM still owns IMO lol, I average like 130+..

Would anyone want to join a clan exclusive to the Neowin members? We could set it up on various servers and with the Global Play coming up soon, it'll be very easy to play across the regions.

As for the long-awaited patch, I like that you can now earn wins towards portrait rewards by playing the unranked games. It provides a lot more casual and less stressful gaming experience.

I also appreciate the improvements made to the AI such as:

"In a custom game, players can now elect for an AI player to follow a specific build order, such as Full Rush, Timing Attack, Straight to Air, and more."

Now I'm looking forward to Global Play and, of course, the release itself!

I completely forget about this game, kind of a surprise to see it pop up and not long to go now. Will be interesting to see all the UI changes, im not going to open the original before then so will be a fun surprise to see how its changed as I havent looked at it again since finishing the original campaign.

im onoly interested int he single player campine!

Yeah, i have never been big on the online play for these games i just like to play through the single player campaign and then a few matches with friends or playing mods but i suck with the online play.

The HotS makes the transition from campaign to online play very seamless.

To get prepared, you can opt to go thru a tutorial, do exercises, or play vs a much improved progressive AI that adjusts to your level of skill.

I have done the tutorials in the past and i just am not very good against real people. I do rather well against AI just Humans think more erratically than the computer will.

Here is a very, very good resource for anyone seeking to improve their game:

I do have accuracy, but its more about consistency and maintaining lol

micro/macro

Regardless which race you play, there's a certain loop than needs to be always happening in your game:

zerg - build drones, inject larvae, build overlords

terran - build SCV, drop mules, build depos

protoss - build probes, chronoboost, build pylons

Once you've become accustomed to always doing this no matter what is happening, your game will improve.

Of course, you also need to be building your production facilities and units and looking at the minimap at all times.

Same here! not interested in multiplayer at all. I've played RTS games online before and got my arse kicked every time. Human players are brutal, even the toughest AI is a cake walk against a human player :/ This is turning into a very expensive month! gonna have to let this one slide till my finances recover! (already got/preordered Tomb Raider and BioShock: Infinite) but will definitetly pick this up when I can. Really enjoyed WoL (Y)

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you saying "I suck at online SC2!" Maybe we should form a Neowin Crap SC2 Player league. At the end we could have a tournament and whoever wins gets kicked out of the league.

Multiplayer SC2 is just WAY to competitive for me to enjoy. I can't think that fast anymore :p.

WoL single player campaign was quite good, so I may get HotS for just the single player. My only complaint about WoL is I wish it were a bit longer.

Been playing for 12 years! My game is quite decent and if I played more I could get high ranks

Kudos for that! I've been playing SimCity last couple of days and I know that if I run SC2 now, I'll probably be slower than usual, coz missing the game just for a day makes you lose a bit of reaction time....especially after playing a relaxed, laid-back game like SimCity lol.

AI is a cake walk against a human player

I've beaten the campaign on brutal, but it is currently impossible for me to beat the insane/elite AI 1v1 without some heavy cheese play. It is really, really tough. But yeah, it's at least predictable as opposed to real people.

Im willing to play with some folks and give advice/pointers; not claiming im the best, but ive been able to help a lot of people learn.

Cool. What server are you on?

    • Very fitting name since AI users have air where there brains should be.
    • Yes, it was amusing at the time because even then dbrand was well known for stealing the designs of products from other companies. That’s what they do.
    • Didn’t Dbrand once complain that Casetify was ripping off their designs a well? seems pretty bad of them to try and get around Valve’s copyright this way with that in mind.
    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
