With delta updates, in app purchases, and push notifications tied into the MAS in Lion, what's not to love? :p

lol fair enough. mail looks better do. don't think it'll get me away from sparrow though, love it.

also all the new features in mail are things other apps/web apps have alreasy. the new UI is nice thuogh.

also i want some more technical info, like are they actually killing support for 32 bit CPUs.

also finder has tabs now? or is more useful, cause i effin hate the default finder ( totalfinder though)

i don't mind it, it's convenient.

I don't know, i think i'm still not 100% confortable with my mac yet..still getting used to it.. I don't like the Window Managers, file managing seems to be more time comsuming than Windows or Linux. I am always moving files and organizing them (1000 songs week(i am in 3 record pools for DJing) and other file types like logos, drops). Maybe, I'll get used to it.

i duno how much i like the no scrollbars visible thing, there should be some kinda indicator that there is scrolling available... to have it only so you know if you try to scroll is a little odd

On the most recent Lion build, I noticed that if the page I was viewing was being live updated, the scroll bars would re-appear for a second to indicate there was new content.

usually i don't care much for organzing that stuff, that's what spotlight is for (and itunes for music). i do put albums in their own folders though.

Lion only available on the App store. No physical media will be available.

that sucks, how am i suppose to get it on my hackintosh :( 30 dollars is nice though. I guess this is how they are trying to combat piracy and hackintoshes?

Kinda disappointed that they didn't demo any thing that we didn't already know from Lion. Was hoping for more new NEW features. But guess not.

It's probably an indication there really isn't anything new in Lion that hasn't already been shown off.

Just like with Leopard, those "250 new features" will probably have 10-15 things in Mail alone, like "widescreen layout" and "improved search."

Everyone who was bitching about the App store, time to suck it up. The ship have sailed. Looks like Apple is leading by example killing off the disk version of the OS.

And I still don't think that's necessarily a good thing, I would still prefer to have the option of a physical copy of Lion. Obviously, I can still do this by burning the DVD myself or putting the image on a USB drive, but I just think there should always be a physical fallback.

As we saw with some of the DP releases, lots of people ran into issues when trying to download and install Lion from the App Store. Also, with Lion being entirely digital, how will one now do a completely clean install?

$29 is pretty smart. They've been doing the samething for a while. It makes the user think, "Oh man, $29, that's super cheap!" But yeah, the only way to use said $29 cheap software is to buy a nice new Mac :) Apple ain't no dummy, they are a hardware company, not software like Microsoft. So hell yeah, make some cheap stuff (good though!) and then people will have to buy your expensive hardware to run it anyways since it can't be used anywhere else*

* - minus some skills from a Hackintosh peoples.

All in all, i'm pretty stoked to!! :woot:!!!!111!

...how will one now do a completely clean install?

My question as well. But i'm sure someone somewhere will figure something out. It's not that hard to rip the DMG from the app store.

And on your point. Only people with Snow Leopard can get the App Store (correct me if I'm wrong). How will people on Leopard and Tiger upgrade without a disk?

Questions, questions...

    • It's about to become harder to turn off your Samsung TV, thanks to Instagram by Aditya Tiwari Meta announced that its Instagram for TV app has arrived on Samsung TVs in the US as part of its latest expansion, giving users one more way to scroll through Reels. The social media giant often comes under scrutiny for the "addictiveness" of its features, which leads people to spend excessive time on the platform. Interestingly, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri described spending 16 hours on the platform as "problematic use" but not "clinical addiction." Mosseri also compared scrolling on Instagram to binge-watching a show on Netflix. Instagram for TV is now available on Samsung TV models released in 2020 or later. The app is already available on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV in the US, which together account for the majority of connected TV devices. The company said it will test several new features to improve the living room and family experience while using Instagram on the big screen. Watching vertical videos on a big screen isn't something many would be excited about. Probably that's why Meta is testing a dedicated home for horizontal videos. Creators will get the opportunity to design content for TV screens and get more ways to reach audiences, according to Meta. If you found an interesting Reel while doomscrolling on your phone, you'll be able to cast it to your TV. The feature is available for testing on Instagram for TV on Google TV and Amazon Fire TV, and it will also support videos from the Saved tab. Instagram for TV will be testing Channels organized around user interests, across genres such as comedy and sports, as well as content from favorite creators. Moreover, you can watch Stories on your TV. While Instagram is known for short-form videos, it's knocking on more doors to keep the audience hooked. The company said it's exploring new content formats for the big screen, including long-form creator content to cover topics in detail, episodic series to build suspense across multiple episodes, and creator live sessions on TV. All of the new updates put Instagram in competition with established giants like YouTube (and Netflix), which already have a robust presence on the big screen. In recent updates, Instagram added the ability to write an individual caption for each carousel image, manually re-order posts, and a paid version of the app.
    • I know RAM and storage prices are high right now, but I think it would have been better to have 1TB as the base level storage, especially as it's supposed to be for gaming. Plus a 2.5gbe ethernet port rather than only 1gbe.
    • I have installed the debloated version of Windows 11 25H2 Pro. I obtained the apps from store.rg-adguard.net. The size of the Photos app window is quite problematic for me; it consistently displays in a 16:9 aspect ratio, resembling a movie theatre screen, and cant remeber its last size and position. The Snipping Tool cannot capture the taskbar. When I select "Window" in capture mode, it allows me to capture menus or individual windows, but I am unable to capture just the taskbar. This functionality was available in version 24! I am on the same version numbers (latesst).
    • I'm already seeing my steam library, still swallowing the 16 Gb of RAM, then looking at the SD storage expansion and saying "what?".
