Neowin Mobile updated

In that case, yes it should work :)

should is the key word my friend... still doesn't...

"URL Error: API not found. URL may not refer to an IP.Board install, or may be an incompatible version."

I figured it wouldn't work. I was really hoping it would though. I remember another member having an issue with the mobile app. It may be a bug that needs to be fixed by IPB.

Recent mobile forum update didn't enable an ability to jump to a specific page as was expected. However, I am glad that the main page is getting some love.

One question though: does information that isn't actionable (at least on iPhone) need to be displayed for every story? Things like tags, bubble with count of comments, even story author cannot be actioned unless drilled into each story.

Also, notice a small glitch with drawing of the Facebook like count bubble as per screenshot below. Probably Facebook's fault like just about anything these days.

Wonderful job, much better looking than the previous version but since the previous version a while ago. I just have one question; I'm using an Xperia Arc (which runs on Android) and when I use the default browser, everything is great. But when I use opera mobile, it forces me to click the "View Image" link to see the pictures. Is this intentional? It's been like this since 2 versions back and I was just hoping it was a bug.

Will try it,, always preferred the mobile site on the iPad ( more touch friendly ) but missing functionality of full site ( expected )

Edit - nice, same as the last mobile site before update,, looks little different, and the editing of posts/navigation is better

If you're referring to Mini (not Mobile) then it would make sense if it was intentional. Saves on data use. On Mobile, probably not.

Nice to see the site rendering just fine on Mini by the way :)

You're right that it would make sense on the Mini, but I am referring to the Mobile version.

It works on my forum though, it might be that the settings on Neowin disallow the API. (you can actually disable the iOS app from connecting to a forum, I'll have to test it when I get home. )

Looks very nice! At this point I've been using the desktop version on my Xoom since the Pegasus update (since the default mobile was attrocious) and haven't found a reason to go back to the mobile site, but when I'm stuck using my phone, it will be an absolute pleasure to be using the mobile site again. Very, very good work! Can't wait for the forums to be updated as well. I will miss mobile darkside, but I can easily get over that since, as I mentioned, I don't get on the mobile site very often.

    • As much as I love owning my own hardware, it's hard to argue with the value. I'm not a huge gamer, I'd actually be interested in a cheaper plan with limited monthly hours, or even a pay-by-the-hour plan.
    • Well, they (LibreOffice/The Document Foundation) are bitchy and whiny, yes, but they're right, at least this time. It doesn't make sense to market something as "free and open source to thwart dependency on foreign companies' software" but at the same time, using the format of said companies (Microsoft) by default. That way, you are changing nothing, essentially, you're just using another UI. I'm not saying they should drop other formats altogether, but they shouldn't default to the thing they're trying to run away from in the first place. If you're gonna do something, just go all the way in, don't stop in the middle, IMO.

    • Vivaldi 8.0.4033.46 by Razvan Serea Vivaldi is a cross-platform web browser built for – and with – the web. A browser based on the Blink engine (same in Chrome and Chromium) that is fast, but also a browser that is rich in functionality, highly flexible and puts the user first. A browser that is made for you. Vivaldi is produced with love by a founding team of browser pioneers, including former CEO Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, who co-founded and led Opera Software. Vivaldi’s interface is very customizable. Vivaldi combines simplicity and fashion to create a basic, highly customizable interface that provides everything a internet user could need. The browser allows users to customize the appearance of UI elements such as background color, overall theme, address bar and tab positioning, and start pages. Vivaldi features the ability to "stack" and "tile" tabs, annotate web pages, add notes to bookmarks and much more. • I'm surprised they haven't found a way to fix that. As much as I don't like software wasting memory, a file manager is the kind of thing that makes sense to keep running in active memory for super-fast recall. I suspect that is why MS makes their File Explorer part of the main explorer.exe shell, so that it is guaranteed to always be running.
