What is your opinion on Skrillex?

Recommended Posts

I agree with Nik,

Ironically I notice that your location is Leicester. I was there last year and walking home with my gf and her mate 4 chavs roll up in what can only be described as a KA converted into a tank with skrillex playing trying to throw eggs at us.

That summed up the culture for me really.

I like how people here are trying to make out that music they don't like is, not only inferior to what they like, but also listened to by inferior people.

Hmmm...

I dislike it when people used to do this over HipHop, mostly metalheads who accused them of not playing instruments or such.

But commercial dubstep has devolved into a joke. Stick a wob wob on something, a bass scream and call it dubstep. And Skrillex as a DJ is USELESS. As a producer he is "obvious" at best.

As for people who listen to dubstep? Sorry but in the UK they fit into a very easily defined category. I see it ALL the time when DJing, and it's ALWAYS (like 100% of the time) the same cliche's again and again!

The simplicity and ease at which dubstep is created doesn't nesscarily make it "less good". But yea, fair points I guess.

Not by definition no, but in practise any 10 year old kid can fire up an online dubstep studio, put their Bieber in, post it to youtube and thus make the overall genre less.

I've heard one or two (I'm embarrassed to say this) kind of catchy songs from Skrillex, but dub step in general is absolute garbage. I think it's funny, when my parents were young, their parents would have said that what they listen to isn't music, it's just noise. When I was a kid, my parents would say that about my music. Now enter dub step, and it literally is just noise. It's like you took the joke, then you beat it to death, and then were proud of it.

And don't try to act like dubstep is your new ****. We've had that for a long time, and it was just as annoying when I had to listen to it when my modem dialed up to the internet back in the day as it is now.

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates.
