It's technology. Don't drop it.

Plus, if you can afford a ?400+ phone, you should be able to afford insurance.

Yea, because no one drops anything...

I drop my phone maybe once a year but accidents happen and people are only human. And yea, I do have insurance but its a PITA a lot of times and just a hassle if anything happens. I would prefer using a device that if I do something stupid with, it will take it and keep on going.

People can say glass/metal is better and if they are talking about the looks/feel...then yea, then that is probably true. But the plastic and "cheap" looking phones can take more of a punishment and are more durable.

No one is saying it's a small upgrade. The technology inside the phone is impressive, but they've packed it into a dated and cheap looking design.

I love the design! I prefer slim and light devices like the s2 (and now s3)

After seeing this I'm glad I went with a Sony Xperia S. PenTile is ew and absolutely not done for a flagship, and the horrible bloat TouchWiz adds will make updates extremely problematic.

Wireless charging is an industry first.

Actually Palm got there first, in 2009.

Not sure why people think this is a small upgrade!

Because it's still just a phone, with a large battery and abysmal power consumption.

Wireless charging is a huge plus for me. Great looking phone, nice specs although I would have liked 2GB RAM possibly?

As for the screen, the s2's colour reproduction is amazing and I'd expect nothing less from this phone, plus a sharper image with the resolution bump. PenTile screen I don't care about unless I'm looking under a microscope at it; although the possible screen burn-in from the PenTile technology worries me a little.

As for software, many many great enhancements. I like the idea of the multi-window/video addition. Plus I've never has a problem with Touchwiz, looks nice IMO.

I'll definitely be buying this off contract, probably at Amazon or similar as still on contract with S2 :p

You're right, looks like Samsung misled us about wireless charging in the presentation.

Not sure how you can comment on the power consumption when not even the tech sites that have gone hands on have said anything about it..

Very ugly phone, no inovation. HTC One X seems a bit better in design. Im a normal man and i dont have pants to use this phone, im elegant 4.8' is not elegant its huge. Not good Samsung :(

There is NO wireless charging, where do people read this stuff, the phone has nothing new, its bigger, better processor and thats it.

I think this is bad for all, Apple needs competition and this isnt it :(

where do YOu read these stuffs???

"Designed for humans" - Whoa that's true innovation! I never understood why all other companies kept designing phones with whales and meerkats in mind.

You didn't know? iPad was designed for cats, and the original Xbox controller was designed for gorillas.

The battery cover comes included in Galaxy S3? Its a separate kit if im not wrong. Every phone can be wireless charged with a new cover a that base where you put down the phone.

You're splitting hairs.

So I guess the "exclusive" reports of 1920x1080 screen, ceramic backing and that neato/useful wireless charging were wrong... why do people keep "reporting" on all this crap?

Actually the wireless charging part was accurate.

So does it come with wireless charging? No ---? its actually the main question of Feature...

Are you able to wireless charge it? - Yes, with a new separate wireless kit

Are you able to do it with any other phone with a new kit? - Yes. even 2yo iphone4

So where do we stand, is it a Feature out of the box? Someone please clarify this. Thanks

I was really looking forward to this phone, but it turns out to be a huge disappointment... Except for the new CPU and the higher screen resolution, I seriously don't see any compelling reason for SGS2 owners to upgrade to this phone.

I've just upgraded to ICS and slapped the extended battery (2,000mAh) into my SGS2. It's a satisfactory upgrade for now.

This is the thing I don't understand: Is there really a point to upgrading your phone from SGS2? Why would you even upgrade after just a year, seriously? What in god's name did you expect?

This is the same, if not worse when Apple released iPhone 4S and then the people started bitching. If you look a generation back (people upgrading from Galaxy S or phones released around iPhone 4, you know, people who this phone is mainly targeted for), this is an incredible upgrade. But if you bought the previous one, what did you expect? Even worse are the owners of Galaxy Nexus: "this hardly justifies the upgrade *moan moan moan*" Guess what, it wasn't supposed to.

I expected the stuff that was speculated before the official announcement, such as the ceramic cover, 2 GB RAM, non-pentile display, 12MP camera, software buttons, etc. This might sound insane for today, but will probably be just average by next year.

Actually, there were some quite significant differences between the SGS1 and SGS2. Just to name a few: double RAM, Super AMOLED+, slightly higher resolution, HSPA support, much better camera, etc. It was clearly a good reason to upgrade.

honestly.. it's growing on me.. the more i see bigger photos and how the phone looks like in hand and how thin it is, I don't think it looks cheap or bad at all. I will say, white one is MUCH sexier. But when I look at the phone up-close it looks pretty nice. I would have preferred the design of the phone shown in that teaser image I posted, but judging by these photos the phone actually looks pretty sexy.

I think we just can't appreciate the look until we have the phone in our hands. I think black one in some photos shown looks much worse and cheaper than it really is.

    • Tim Cook: "The US over time began to stop having as many vocational kinds of skills." What's the point of wasting time getting those skills if you can't get a job with them? Good Lord, maybe he and his cohort of CEO's who exported all these jobs to China should just shut the f**k up :D
    • I made a new Cinematic/Trailer for the game, this will be the intro, still a work in progress!  I also updated the Steam page with a ton of new screenshots! 👀 https://store.steampowered.com/app/3925340/Incoherence_Dark_Rooms/
    • Closed-loop cooling and a custom 800G network protocol let the $7.3B campus run as one AI training machine. Microsoft confirmed June 23, 2026, that its Fairwater campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is fully operational — and the engineering behind it makes the facility something fundamentally different from every data center that came before it. Where conventional cloud infrastructure racks up general-purpose servers and parcels out workloads to each one independently, Fairwater links hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 Blackwell GPUs into a single, coherent cluster using a two-story building design, 800-gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabric, and a proprietary networking protocol co-developed with OpenAI and NVIDIA. The result, according to Microsoft, is the closest thing to a purpose-built AI supercomputer that any company has ever placed in commercial operation. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319205/20260627/microsoft-opens-fairwater-wisconsin-ai-campus-runs-one-supercomputer-via-800g-ethernet.htm
