Again, until nudism is allowed at oxford this is political pandering and not a freeing of the dress code.

It's an easing of the restrictions related to gender specific clothing. It's a clear step in the right direction but it's not the be-all-and-end-all.

I still remember the article in my sociology class called "Welcome to your world, Baby" which went as far as to say that all of gender but the physical bits was completely a construct and their was zero mental difference with a boy or girl at birth at all. It was biologically and psychologically wrong.

If you were to take a group of new-born boys and girls and put them in isolation from the rest of society you wouldn't find girls making pink dresses and boys designing camouflage gear - instead they'd go around naked, acting on their biological impulses. Clothing itself it a societal construct, something so ingrained in society that it is now considered offensive and disrespectful to walk around naked.

This is so crazy that everyone is getting involved in this political degenderization.

It's not "everyone" but rather a small minority of people. However, based upon the opinions of an enlightened society it was considered that there is no reason to oppose such a change. And in that I agree. I have no intention of going around wearing a dress but I have no reason to oppose anybody else doing such a thing.

If you find such behaviour offensive then you need to really examine why that is. Do you feel intimidated by it? Do you feel emotionally violated? Does it directly affect your life in any discernible way? I really think you need to watch this video:

The article your talking about is similar but not the same. That said dresses for women and pants for men etc are society constructs, however, a distinct difference in dress between the genders has existed in some form all over the world. Whether it be down to just makeup and jewelry or dresses skirts etc. Their are differences, they just pronounce themselves differently in different cultures thats all. I don't necessarily appose the change at oxford, I just wonder how much of the change was felt forced down them to be considered an accepting community and that worrys me.

Sex and gender are very different things. Sex relates to biology, what chromosomes you possess (xx/xy) whereas gender is a psychological construct.

As long as EVERYONE is allowed to do that, then sure, lets make that the law. But this is hardly what LGBT and other groups are proposing. We are simply asking for equal rights to everyone else. Not more rights, or different rights, but the same rights.

It feels silly there were even rules in place to say how a gender should dress, but at least the world is finally changing to allow people to express themselves, whatever their race, gender, sexuality or religious presence.

You know, I dont like it, and I agree with Xilo also. My OPINION is that guys dress as guys, and girls as girls. But screw opinions, as for some weird ass reason, on this forum they get blasted and torn to shreds. They can wear what they want, I just dont like it. It doesn't affect them that I dont like it, and it doesn't affect me what they do, only if I went to said school and ended up with some sort of yearbook, and 10 years down the line one of my kids got a hold of it and I had to explain why the boys are wearing skirts. I personally think that its weird, and the schools should not have caved. We have fought for the ability for the children in the school my daughters attended to force them to wear uniforms due to the type of clothing that was being worn. What would be so wrong with telling your kid that the guys wearing skirts are... wearing skirts because they feel like it? Is that some how going to turn you children into wanting to wear skirts to school?
