...will you be willing to 'eat your hat' so to speak? ;)

I'll give away my HOUSE (bought & paid for), as I've said before on here, if Win8 does NOT fail :), hold me to it buddy, I'm that god damn confident ;)

P.S

I was the same with Vista, but not so much as to put my house on line, turned out I was right anyway :)

Go ahead and belittle him.. he is exactly how most of the mainstream users of windows are... precisely why windows 8 is epic failure

it matters not if you metrosexual college types can figure out how to work it....

The problem isn't even that he was confused and couldn't figure things out, but basically on many points he's acting ignorant and confused when he isn't

For example, he says "If you want to start Steam, you?ll want to launch the Desktop app, and then launch Steam." But the screenshot he included in the article shows shortcuts to Desktop apps. I counted 12 Desktop app shortcuts in that screenshot. I'm sure he knows that clicking those shortcuts open the apps on the Desktop. I'm sure he's not ignorant about that. But he's talking like he is.

Ok, bookmarking this thread page right here. What's the triggering threshold at which these terms apply? In other words what will you define as enough licenses sold in order to make Windows 8 a success.

I'd love some property in Scotland. ;)

You get my 'wife' free anyway, good luck! lol As for the 'threshold' , well, that wont take long, lol, the way things are going :D, dunno, we will discuss terms later lol ;)

As much as I'd love to see you have property in Scotland, Its a 'pipe dream' lmao :)

Hmm...I don't know if that's such a good bargain...I already have someone I'm with...and she's enough for me to handle as it is. If I have to take her can I later donate her to a 'good cause'? :p

How's this. Windows 7 hit 240 million copies sold in it's first year. If Windows 8 sells at least that many (since Windows 7 holds the record for being the fastest selling operating system) that would define it as now being the fastest selling operating system which would make it a de facto success.

Sound like reasonable terms? ;)

Oh, and just a good point...to help measure stats quicker, Windows 7 sold at a rate of about 7 copies per second for the first 8 months...it's actually faster than that now. ;)

Your just a 'sucker' for they 'stats' buddy :D

Stats are what make the determination of success for a product sold. That's how you measure success in the sales world. If you sell more than your competitor and turn more of a profit you are a success.

So that's what I'm asking, since you want to bet your house on it ;). If Windows 8 sells more licenses at the same price as Windows 7 in the same time-frame, would you call that a success?

No! I base it on 'user' feedback. Sales, figures and other manipulated rubbish makes one not sleep easy :) I prefer the old 'word of mouth' method :)

Wait, so you think reviews & feedback are immune to manipulation more than actual units sold? The reporting data comes straight from retailers & OEM's and is factually verified information.

User feedback is subjective and cannot be quantified beyond an honor system.

So basically you're stating you're only willing to wager something you'll never lose since you'll be the judge based on criteria that has no basis or unit for measure...

So basically it's like the movie 'Big Daddy' and you're playing the game of 'I Win'...

Clever, but not exactly forthright... :shifty:

wtf this was 4 people who wanted a start menu i do type in english so its readable my point is 8 rocks people are stupid this place allows to many topics on it

I think the point they are making is that without punctuation things can change meaning or become hard to read. It's actually proven that proper punctuation & spelling lead to better comprehension.

That poster was saying that they like 8, but that it was hard to read your postings because of the lack of proper formatting. That's all :)

u must loves all this bitching about an os thats not finished and with out no start menu people cant use 8

im defending 8 ..

Uh...he was saying that the original article linked here was boring & unoriginal...purely seeking attention and nothing else...they were agreeing with you & you got upset.

1000% in agreement. He nailed it. It's useless piece of garbage. I'll tell you one thing. I was NEVER happier coming back to Windows 7 than after using Windows 8. That has to account for something

Only most of his points aren't even true...as evidenced by multiple posts in this thread.

This person is clearly an egit, and probably thinks it's still okay to sleep with his sister. Things are moving on, tweed is no longer in fashion, so one needs to be use to the new UI that is all.

After a few months use, I bet it'll be like "omg, I can't believe you use to do so much to get here (using xp, 7,)"

    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.
    • Zen Browser 1.21.3b by Razvan Serea Zen Browser is a privacy-focused, open-source web browser built on Mozilla Firefox, offering users a secure and customizable browsing experience. It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. Compact Mode: Maximizes screen space by minimizing UI elements. Zen Glance: Quick website previews. Split Views: View multiple tabs in the same window. Sidebar: Access bookmarks and tools quickly. Vertical Tabs: Manage tabs vertically. Container Tabs: Separate browsing sessions. Fast Profile Switcher: Switch between profiles easily. Tab Folders: Organize tabs into folders. Customizable UI: Personalize browser interface. Security Features: Inherits Firefox’s robust security. Fast Performance: Lightweight and optimized for speed. Zen Mods Customization: Deep customization with mods. Quick Access: Easy access to favorite websites. Open Source: Built on Mozilla Firefox with community collaboration. Community-Driven: Active development and feedback from users. GitHub Repository: Contribute and review the source code. Zen Browser 1.21.3b changelog: New Features Updated to Firefox 152.0.1 Fixes Fixed transparency not working after updating to 1.21.2b (#14259) Fixed frequent crashes affecting users with Intel Raptor Lake processors Fixed an issue on macOS where choosing a PDF option, such as "Save as PDF", from the system print dialog would send the job to your printer instead of saving a file.
