A final good bye to Windows

Recommended Posts

did it ever occur to you that the problem might be because of a driver, written by the manufacturer of that certain piece of hardware??? maybe its a bug that only happens in your hardware configuration. and you didnt even provide details of what your problem is. maybe it really is you, you're doing something thats messing it all up, but because of your arrogance, it cant be your fault.

go ahead,go to linux. why do people always write these posts like it is some kind of threat? do you want us to beg you to use windows? whats the point of your post really? you even said what you think the outcome is going to be.

Where the Hell did that come from? I have a Technet sub.

Thats illegal. Its for testing only. Some tech net software is not full featured either. Look up technet/ add features windows 8

So why are you blaming windows because you refuse to use retail software?

Ignore the brand name monster cable recommendation, but get a better RJ45 cable and see if that fixes the issues.

No, it absolutely has to be Monster Cable unless you use an Apple Lightning Connector to RJ45 adapter and run it through a dongle.

While I think that this is a stupid thread, what in the **** are you talking about?

The only "feature" that you can add to Win 8 is Media Center.

Sounds like your system has issues.

I've been using the same system for 3+ years now. I've only upgraded the memory and graphics card. Haven't had any blue screens or issues to speak of. Then again, I only install quality components and use software I trust.

lol i think we have a loose cannon on our hands. if he snapped with probably a simple problem with windows, image what he'll do if he has to compile a something on linux.

You do realize that since running Linux I have not had to compile anything ... other than the few times that I decided I wanted to learn how to do it.

Most things these days either are in the CLICKABLE REPOSITORY or have a CLICKABLE INSTALLER (other than having to put a password in it is just like windows )

I think he's confusing retail and VL images. Different subscriptions have access to different versions.

VL doesn't allow you to add MC.

Not sure what's sadder here, the OP who can't admit that all his "tweaking" of Windows is the real problem or the yahoo who made the retarded claim that Linux caused his hardware to fry, for the record there's nothing you can do in software that could damage hardware, nothing

What about a bad bios flash from inside windows?

Get a Monster Cable brand Ethernet cable and all your problems will go away. I had the same problem with an AMD chip using standard ethernet cable. It has something to do with the positrons hitting the bus at too high a rate getting conjamburated by the AMD's processing method that concatenates the data and ends up freezing under Windows because of the things.

I love you

I also know by posting this, the fanboys are going to come out and bash the **** out of me.
This forum doesn't need more flamewars. Why do you willingly spawn one? Your post has no content that can be discussed objectively. Why is this kind of thread not closed right away, I'll never know.

Some people like me are using retail discs with retail keys from tech net yet there is no add features for the media center key.

All people have to do is look on the technet forums

Then it's not retail Pro.

MSDN has the same retail Pro and features can be added.

Now several people have VLK licenses and those do not have the ability to do MC.

[snip]

However frustrated you are, try this. After all, what do you have to lose?

1. Set your BIOS to "BIOS Defaults", rather than "Performance Defaults".

2. Wipe your primary HDD.

3. Install Windows.

4. Do NOT install ANY third party software whatever.

5. Go to the Device Manager and check your ethernet adapter to see if it is functional.

6. If it is, enable automatic updates.

7. If it isn't, install the driver that came with your system, or go to another PC and download it from the manufacturer's site.

8. Once you have Internet access, restart your computer.

9. Leave the computer running like this for about 2 days (or about as long as you previously did until it started giving errors).

If after this period, you do not run into problems, install your other software one by one, with some normal usage between each install. This will help you pinpoint the cause of your problems.

This is all I can do to help, without being there.

Just another ill informed computer user. . .this must be one of those average joes that has no idea what a computer is. . .

Is there a real purpose why you are here whining.

I guess you were born with all your IT knowledge.

What a crass attitude.

I won't comment too much...but evidently you haven't seen some of the prior threads by the OP. I'll say nicely (and Lakota please don't take this as an attack, I'm commenting so that this particular poster can understand) that there is a certain resistance to trying troubleshooting and in taking advice as it is offered.

Now this situation has gotten somewhat better, and I wish Lakota lived nearby since I'd love to look at that PC and see just what in the heck is going on.

I understand.

I haven't read to many of his prior posts, but I was just trying to help.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat are free to claim on the Epic Games Store by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe PC gamers have two more games they can add to their library without needing to open their wallets, as the Epic Games Store's freebie offer has just refreshed. That means last week's Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King offer has been replaced by two new games, which happen to be Robobeat and Citizen Sleeper copies. From the duo, Robobeat lands from developer Simon Fredholm, offering a rhythm-based action game. Released only last year, the title puts you into the shoes of Ace, a bounty hunter that's targeting the robot showman Frazzer. The fast-paced title offers movement techniques like wall-running, sliding, and bunny hopping to zoom around while shooting enemies, but the requirement is doing everything to the beat. Outside of built-in tracks, the title also lets players upload their own music to populate its levels too. Next, Citizen Sleeper lands from Jump Over The Age, a sci-fi RPG adventure taking place in a ruined space station where thousands of people are trying to survive. The tabletop RPG-inspired title uses things like dice and clocks to change how the player approaches situations and survives their day-to-day lives. There is a large range of characters to meet with in the station, each with their own storylines and alliances. "You are a sleeper, a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, owned by a corporation that wants you back," says the developer about the setting. "Thrust amongst the unfamiliar and colourful inhabitants of the Eye, you need to build friendships, earn your keep, and navigate the factions of this strange metropolis, if you hope to survive to see the next cycle." The Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat giveaways are set to run until June 25 on the Epic Games Store, giving PC gamers seven days to claim the latest offer. Once this closes out, new freebies will take its place on the same day. They are supposed to be copies of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought. Don't forget that mobile gamers can check out the Epic Game Store's weekly giveaways on Android and iOS to grab a freebie there as well.
    • Vivaldi version 8.0.4033.50 released June 17: https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/minor-update-eight-8-0/
    • The Online part hasn't even been announced and probably won't be included on day one. This is a massive singleplayer game.
    • While I agree with all that, it just proves there's an a** built for every seat.
