nice dektop, wots that thing under ur monitor?

That's a power switch.. I use it to power on the various lights around the work area. I also use it to power on and off the scanner, as it does not come equipped with a power switch. I didn't plug anything else in there... I'm paranoid about overloads, so I make sure that I use different outlets for stuff.

I thought I would post new pix and present my work station the right way

Fixed the busted link --- Sorry!

As for the Enterprise E... I special ordered it in 1996 when First Contact was released. The Franklin Mint had a select few that were meant to be collector's items. I opened the box of course, as I have no intention of parting with it!

;)

If you're interested, here is the link: http://www.franklinmint.com/

I doubt they still have it, but you can always search eBay.

Im gonna be water cooling my system soon, ill upload some pics of that once i got it setup correctly, ive also installed a Variable resistor in my memory so i can overclock the memspeeds (wacking more volts through), I hope to get all the kit in about 6 weeks.

Nice setup...! Looks like an MSI vid card in there... I was curious, you mentioned doin' some water cooling. What are you current temps now? I mean, are they an issue? Or is the water cooling a solution so that you can o/c even higher?

Well ive experienced crashes during games, because im overclocking a 2.26 to 2.8 the temps can hike pretty high - its 40C on normal use (which is good) but 50C+ on gaming (which explains the crahes lol).

Ive dropped it down now to 2.26 and its 29C normal use (didnt want to bugger my chip), when I water cool it i wanna go 3ghz , and the temps should be really low.

Ive heard people can go further, thats why i did the variable resistor on my memory, that will help.

I dont know what kit im gonna buy and im posting around on other forums to see whats the best one. ive got ?250 to spend so I hope thats enough.: :

oh erm, my graphics card is a Gainward Geforce4 ti4200 128mb 650xp Goldensample - it was good when I got it but there are loads of cards that can cain it pretty hard lol, im waiting out for the Geforce FX.

Yea, that explains it. :D Intels in general run far cooler than AMDs, but they can't tolorate the high temps like the AMD can. All things considered, I'd rather be at Intel's temps: I lost my Athlon 1.4 T-Bird due to overheat, and it wasn't even overclocked. It would post temps of around 60c. I guess I should have gotten an air conditioner for the basement sooner! Lucky for me though, my Athlon XP 2000+ runs under 50c now, and never passes over 53c on full load, which is great for an AMD.

I don't know if a 2.26 will go to a 3g, but you never know until you try. Let us know how it turns out when you integrate the new water cooler.

:)

well, i have me server pics :D.. im toooo lazy to take a pic of my "workstation"

    • Got it. Seem like a good improvement. Thanks. But, before we "Add the source to Trusted Sites," how would know if it is trusted or not? Could get messy for not first Knowing" it is clean. See what I mean?

    • I just started using Teams (and “New” Oiutlook) at work (instead of Slack) and both are truly abysmal pieces of software.
