Yeah, have to agree, enjoying this waaaay more than BF3. Might be because I have some friends playing though and using voice chat in the squad is sooo nice. Finally able to take over some games using vehicles, too.

One thing I've noticed is Battlelog is so finicky with updates, even to Chrome. Yesterday I couldn't get anything to load and decided to check for a Chrome update and lo-and-behold, a pending Chrome update was working. Restarted the browser and everything was good again. I'm assuming this is actually Flash-related? So, while I don't mind Battlelog, this could be leading to people not even getting into game. One of my friends had to move to Firefox even.

I don't take anything EA says as fact so I'm not believing their PR stunt; EA has been apologizing a lot lately. Hope I'm wrong though.

This is all EA's fault. DICE has proven they can produce a good game

I don't know how long you've been playing DICE games. But they make good games, but they are usually quite buggy on release (and sometimes with patches, which have to be rolled back). I mean come on, 1942 was pretty solid when it came out (if I remember correctly) but BF2 was borked for alot of people. Same with Vietnam and 2142 etc etc etc. Not to mention the times they've put out patches in the past that had to be totally rolled back because of something horrible being introduced instead of fixed.

Sometimes I think DICE's Q/A branch just doesn't have enough people or they are (gasp) bad at finding big bugs. Now sure EA kinda rushed DICE with BF4 because of Ghosts, but that's no excuse at this point with their previous track record on PC releases. Which is poor to say the least for most people.

Yup, pretty much every Battlefield game since 1942 has been fairly buggy upon release.

R15 Server Update Notes

-Various server side crash fixes, including the top seen crashes on R14

-Activated the reservedSlotsList.aggressiveJoin command that enables VIP players and server administrators directly joining full servers

-Client patch compatibility to make servers compatible with the Dec 09 client update

Dec 9 PC Game Update Notes

-Fixed one of the most frequently occurring client crashes

-Fixed broken collision on containers with open doors. The bug previously made grenades bounce back even though the doors were open.

-Fixed a bug in Defuse mode where defenders could win the round by killing all the attackers without disarming the bomb, if the bomb was disarmed in the previous round.

-Miscellaneous stability fixes further reducing the number of client crashes

-Fixed side gunner jitter when aiming in attack boats & transport helicopters

-Fixed some instances of frame rate drops when shooting at large Levolution objects after they have been destroyed (like the radar dish on Rogue Transmission)

-Fixed broken aiming for passengers on the China Rising dirt bike

-Fixed a bug where the sound when capturing a flag was not playing correctly

-Removed a bug that would double save during MP round transition and SP level transition. This fix will reduce the occurrence of corrupted save files.

Cool.

Good to see the updates. I did get dropped from a game tonight, although there is no way to know WHY (i.e. kicked, server crash, etc). But the sound fix when capturing a flag is most welcome.

I'm also starting to warm up to the China Rising maps. Hope Second Assault comes soon to PC, really want to go back to Gulf of Oman!

Whatever DICE did with the update has made it worse for me  :/ Terrible hit detection, constantly getting disconnected.

And unrelated to what they do, the increase in Xbox One consoles sold has made it so we get all the K/D junkies who never help the team. Lovely :p

I'll just leave this here

Hopefully this comes into fruition as EA are useless. Barely touched the game since release, had 100x more enjoyment our of PayDay2.

DICE has screwed up SLI/CrossFire with the latest patch with flickering galore. Also the "netcode" fix totally screwed the game up. Worst. Patch. Ever. Oh, here's the changelog...

Dec 16 PC Game Update Notes
-Fix for a crash that would cause the game to stall, resulting in a sound loop. This should eliminate most of the problems relating to this.
-Fix for the SUAV (introduced in the China Rising expansion pack) not exploding when hitting enemy soldiers. While these indeed should be deadly, they were never designed for ?roadkilling? opponents.
-Fixed one of the issues related to the so-called ?Netcode? (see below for details)
-Fix for player tags not always showing when needed to, resulting in players shooting team members.
-Fix for graphical flickering appearing on terrain.
-Fixed the instance where players suddenly would transition into Spectator Mode while playing the Defuse game mode.
-Fix for a Defuse bug where none of the teams would win a round by letting the timer run out.
-Fix for players getting stuck in the revive screen after being killed.
-Fix for players getting stuck in the kill camera after being revived.
-Fix for the game mode specific ribbons being counted twice in the multiplayer progression.
-Made the NVidia 331.82 driver version mandatory for all players.
-Disabled DirectX 11.1 on NVidia cards that have outdated drivers.
-Fixed driver version not being properly detected on NVidia Optimus systems.
-Fixed a minor crash that could occur when bringing up the scoreboard.
-Fix for the issue where the game would get stuck in loading screen when players tried to join a Second Assault map without actually owning Second Assault.

?Netcode? improvement
We?ve addressed the so called ?Kill trading?. This refers to when two players fire at each other and, seemingly, both die at the same time. The time window where a bullet could cause damage from an already dead player is now calculated as intended, decreasing the timeframe when players with high latency could get a kill, even though they should be dead according to the server.

-Made the NVidia 331.82 driver version mandatory for all players.    Is REAL issue with some of us still running NVidia cards and Fermi chip sets

Patching continues to make this game worse than it was when it started

If your card doesn't work with newer drivers, that's something to take up with NV.  DICE can only deal with their game not working with older drivers.

I disagree...  DICE should be working with NV to get a set of drivers that work

Making a known bad driver mandatory is not a good move, I have no other issues with any other games including BF3

DICE needs a patch, to fix a patch, which was intended to fix a game half done, and obviously still in early beta mode. gotcha.

EDIT, I spoke too soon :/: Some of the fixes in this patch do indeed introduce new issues. In particular the "texture" flickering fix didn't seem to do anything at all to get rid of the flickering on distant textures that most people get, and instead introduced tons of texture issues for SLI users :/

331.82

GREAT ! So if i upgrade and get computer lag problems again, I have to have an unusable computer or no BF4.

sounds like you should be complaining to nvidia about that issue ;)

I'm sure dice had reasons for blacklisting older drivers, they were probably causing game crashes or something.

While there may not be a direct line, there are plenty of methods to get support. http://www.nvidia.com/page/support.html

You can also typically get ahold of the people that built your card fairly easily.

Don't know why I'm complaining when I'm downloading them at 100mbit, but why are the patches are so ****ing huge for this game?

Can't remember a patch bellow 800mb for this game

Multiple executables and level data for a huge game and the expansion...BF3 was worse near the end IIRC

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2, urges IT admins to prepare for release by Usama Jawad Windows 11 typically follows an annual update cycle, but Microsoft recently broke that tradition a bit by releasing a "26H1" version in the first half of this year as a "scoped" build for select new silicon PCs only. This version was not available for customers using 24H2 and 25H2 builds, as Microsoft is busy preparing version 26H2 for them, confirmed officially for the first time. In a Windows IT Pro blog, Microsoft has urged IT admins to prepare for the upcoming release of Windows 11 version 26H2. The company has confirmed that this will be a small enablement package (eKB) that will simply light up certain disabled features that are already present in the operating system's code base. This means that the "refined" Windows update and deployment experience will be simpler and quicker, with minimal disruptions, as the feature update will simply toggle a few flags rather than performing a complete replacement. Microsoft has explained that this is all possible because the standard Windows 11 releases share the same servicing branch and hence, the same source code. However, this also means that Windows 11 26H1 users won't be able to upgrade to 26H2 as that is a different branch, but this is something we have known for a while now. Similar to previous annual feature updates, Windows 11 26H2 will offer the following support cycles: 24 months of support for Home, Pro, Pro EDU, and Pro for Workstations editions 36 months of support for Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise, and Enterprise Multi-session editions Microsoft has not confirmed a concrete release date for Windows 11 26H2, but noted that it is "coming soon". If we go by the ongoing release cadence, we can expect it to begin rolling out in early October 2026. As such, IT admins have been encouraged to begin validating Windows Insider releases in the Experimental Channel, plan rollout rings, and strategize the utilization of their existing deployment tools.
    • Windows 11 gets new audio improvements in the latest builds by Taras Buria Today's Experimental builds (26H1 and Future Platforms, formerly Canary) pack several audio-related improvements. If your device is enrolled in the Experimental Channel (26H1), you can download build 28120.2315, while those in the Future Platforms version have build 29613.1000 to try. Here is what is new in build 29613.1000: [Audio] Following up on our previous improvements, we’re making some more adjustments to Settings > System > Sounds based on your feedback. Namely, we’ve updated the “All sound devices” page so: You now have the ability to change default devices from this page. Each of the devices displayed on this page now has a little volume meter next to it to show if there is audio actively playing. We’ve adjusted the page design slightly so now you can filter whether you’re viewing input or output devices. We’ve added toggles so you can choose if you want to hide or show disabled, disconnected, and unplugged devices on this page. We’ve also updated the input and output audio properties page for devices in Settings to now include jack information for those that need it. And here is the changelog for build 28120.2315: This update includes a small number of minor bug fixes and improvements. [Accessibility] This update improves caption style responsiveness by redrawing captions immediately for caption style changes. If no current caption is visible, a sample caption string is displayed. [Audio] This update improves the reliability of the inbox HD Audio driver. You can find the official release notes for build 28120.2315 here and for build 29613.1000 here.
    • I agree with what I think you are saying, just not in the way you are saying it. Like any tool, the amount it represents your work is perorational to the effort you put into it. It is similar to why 2nd grade math students learning to add and subtract are not allowed to use calculators, but a high-school calculous student is. For the 2nd grader, that tool would completely replace the work they are doing, for the calculous student the same tool allows them to work far more effectively while in no way replacing their effort or knowable. If you spend 30 seconds writing a prompt, then the image that comes out is no more "yours" than if you found the same image with a Google Image search. However, many of these generative tools also support highly iterative processes that allow back and forth, and merging generated images with photos or human created images. I am sure you would agree that a human spending hours of time working on a project, even if AI was involved in the process, still reflects that human's work.
    • Windows 11 version 26H2 is now available for testing in the latest preview build by Taras Buria Friday Windows 11 preview builds are here. Insiders in the Experimental (formerly Dev) and Beta Channel can download builds 26300.8697 and 26220.8690. There are no new features, but Microsoft is officially moving the Experimental Channel to version 26H2. In addition, Microsoft is improving the copy dialog in File Explorer, the Start menu reliability, and fixing virtualization issues. Here is the changelog: [General] With today’s build, Windows Insiders in the Experimental channel will see the versioning updated under Settings > System > About (and winver) to version 26H2. For more information, see the Windows Insiders blog. [File Explorer] We’ve improved the visual consistency and reliability of the Copy dialog in Dark mode, including its launch experience and the expanded progress view. [Start menu] - Also available in Beta Improved reliability of Start menu reflecting newly installed or removed apps without requiring sign-out or restart. [Taskbar] Fixed an issue for Insiders using the new smaller taskbar option, where the system tray might get cut off or pushed off screen. [Settings] - Also available in Beta Improved reliability of Settings > Apps > Startup. [Virtualization] - Also available in Beta This update addresses an issue that could result in bugchecks citing HYPERVISOR_ERROR (0x20001) and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (0x1E) errors after installing the latest flights on some devices during system restarts, virtual machine operations, or while running some gaming applications. You can find the official changelog for the Experimental build here and for the Beta build here.
    • I've always preferred this possibility. There is something that feels good about the idea that all matter in the universe will eventually come back together and maybe even result in another big bang. The idea that the universe would fizzle out over the eons and forever drift apart is a little depressing. I realize it is not logical to let a basic human desire for life to have a grand everlasting meaning change the way I feel about a scientific theory, but I am human, so that is how I feel :-).
