PC version of GTA3: Vice City came out 6 months after the PS2 version.

PC version of GTA3: San Andreas came out 7 months after the PS2 version.

PC version of Grand Theft Auto 4 came out 7 months after the console versions.

PC version of GTA4: The Lost and Damned came out 11.5 months after the console versions.

PC version of GTA4: The Ballad of Gay Tony came out 5.5 months after the console versions.

I hope it doesn't take long for V to come out on PC :(

I hope it does, GTA4's port was so horrific and poor, I hope they learnt their lesson and will actually port it properly this time, if that takes longer, so be it.

as much as I want to believe otherwise, I won't hold my breath :(

to be honest, I just don't think they want to capitalize that badly on the pc platform, for their main market, its sadly crappy consoles; so they either might or probably won't do a proper optimized port, fingers crossed!

Some interesting news and information from Game Informer.

Rockstar Leeds Hiring To Bring "Latest Titles To The PC"

Rockstar games studio Rockstar Leeds is hiring a graphics programmer in order to help the developer bring the company's games to the PC platform. Perhaps this indicates that a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is on the way.

Interestingly, the job posting also lists responsibilities working on next-gen titles. GTA V is a current-gen game.

Grand Theft Auto V Q&A: Customization

Weapon customization sounds like a big part of the game. What are all the types of attachments players can use?

Ammunation makes its return in GTA V, but now you can indeed customize your weapons. The player has access to a wide range of modifications, such as extended clips that allow you to fire more ammo between reloads, grips to improve your accuracy, weapon tints to color your guns, flashlights, scopes, and suppressors. Attachments such as suppressors allow the player to adapt their approach to some missions and take a stealth option. It?s all part of broadening the range of tactical options for the player.

Grand Theft Auto V Q&A: Gun Combat

Would you say the gunplay is more similar to GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, or Max Payne 3?
The best way to describe the gunplay is that it's evolved through influences of all three games. It's still GTA-based at its core, but as we've collaborated with other studios along the way we've tried to bring in all the appropriate parts from the different projects, from the more advanced cover components and targeting of Red Dead Redemption to the more fluid transitions in and out of gun combat from Max Payne 3. The main push for gunplay on GTA V was trying to make everything as dynamic and fluid as possible, from animation to targeting to camera behavior - we're trying to push every aspect to the next level.

It seems there is a lot of nice anti-alising in that screenshot (it appears very smooth), so I doubt this is a screenshot from an actual 360/PS3. Most likely a dev kit. Shame, as many people will think it will look that smooth when the game is finally out.

A few different comments I have seen on various gaming related websites people have claimed it is the PS3 version as that is what the button prompts are. One dude even said a developer confirmed this on the Rockstar forums. I asked for a source, if they share it, I will do the same.

I personally think it is from one of the two console versions. They make a point of saying it is all gameplay, so I really do not think they would "dupe" anyone by showing gameplay from a dev kit. I have faith it is from one of the actual console versions. The million dollar question is which one.

EDIT- Confirmed. This gameplay trailer is the PS3 version.

Just to clarify for those asking, this particular video was captured with footage from the PS3 version of the game.

Again, taken from the Official R* Website HERE.

Good news for PS3 owners. Looks like it is a decent enough version at least. With GTA IV I thought the 360 version was the (slightly) better version (I actually played both).

The comment you quoted was for the screenshots released two months ago.

How do you figure that? It was posted 6 hours and 8 minutes ago, and is the top comment in the article titled "Grand Theft Auto V Official Gameplay Video"

And here is the full quote...

Also, make sure to check out a pair of Q&A's we did with Game Informer that debuted today with more details on customization and gun combat in GTAV (along with some new screens), plus an interview for French speaking fans at Jeuxactu:

The two Game Informer articles in the quote are dated today, July 9th, 2013.

Again, the quote was taken from this post on the Rockstar Website, also dated today, July 9th, posted 8 hours and 4 minutes ago.

So maybe, just maybe, they said the same thing about two screenshots a couple of months ago, but this is clearly referring to the gameplay video.

You quoted a post that I made that was dated May 9th...

I wrote that the screenshots appear to be too smooth (AA).

I have no made any comments about any GTA5 video in the past month.

Ahhh gotcha. I obviously thought your post was referring to the video today.

Awesome news on the weapon customization! Let's hope that the hiring they're doing is to bring not only GTAV to PC, but Red Dead Redemption too! :woot:

Just watched the latest video. Looks sooo sweet! Can't wait.

Question now though, which version to get? Xbox 360 or PS3? Please don't turn this into a flamewar. I have both consoles, just wondering if this game has an advantage on a particular console or if it's the same for both.

I'd imagine, although GTA IV was graphically better on the XBox 360 than it was on the PS3, that Rockstar might have

worked to make GTA V about equal on either console. Although I'm hoping they haven't skimped any graphical detail

onthe XBox 360 version of GTA V, no matter how slight, since that console does have a better GPU chipset.

Can't wait.  :D Looks really awesome.

Going by Red Dead Redemption they'll be very close... if you are into multiplayer, get it on whichever one your friends who you'll play it with are on. If not then... flip a coin?

I think Red Dead Redemption gives a better insight and the differences in that were minor at best. IIRC, grass objects and better anti-aliasing on the 360, better lighting effects on the PS3.

Summary of the above interview:

  • Over 1,000 car customization options" (Bulletproof tires, armor, etc.)
  • Car will turn up in an impound if left in the street. Must pay a fine to retrieve it
  • You can't directly "weaponize" your car, but there are a lot of little options. (Car leaking petrol and light em up, sticky bombs)
  • Guns will be with you throughout the whole game
  • Customized guns will broaden range of options during missions. (Stealthy vs. loud, Scope, etc.)
  • Moved from static fights to free focus. Quickly switch your focus to other enemies. No longer need to lock on to enemies, although you can lock on if you wish
  • "Hits are much more satisfying"
  • Each character has different animation. Strength stat has a bearing on melee capability
  • Expect really cool destruction/carnage/damage
  • Combat AI much more advance with more knowledge of environment
  • Enemies will behave different by who they are (SWAT is organized, gang members are more "gung ho")
  • 3 protag will feel natural and will not feel like a balancing act, allowing the game to feel more natural. (if Franklin and Michael are in a car, you can drive as Michael, switch to Franklin, and Michael will continue driving)
  • Shooting stat will affect steadiness of aim, amount of ammo you can carry, aim stability, etc. (You can go to the shooting range to increase stat. Also goes up if you kill an enemy. You are rewarded for better kills like head shots)
  • Car horns can be customized

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
