What the **** happened?

If you thinking about the trees, then I think it's draw distance... maybe the screenshot made on the other console, than the trailer. Or they realized that the consoles can't handle that much tree...

If you thinking about the trees, then I think it's draw distance... maybe the screenshot made on the other console, than the trailer. Or they realized that the consoles can't handle that much tree...

Textures are also MASSIVELY different.

As I said on here back in May, the screenshots were most likely taken on a development PC with all the niceties (AA, high resolution textures etc.) bumped up.

The official gameplay trailer, however, is actual PS3 footage.

Pre-ordered on Amazon as soon as I saw this gameplay trailer.

Since when do games ever look like the bullshots they release, I'm surprised that people are surprised.

Agreed, promo shots are always going to look better than the actual gameplay but as the gameplay is moving when you see it, it'd be pretty inaccurate to screenshot it and use it as a promoshot. Comparing Apples and Oranges and all that.

GTA Online to launch October 1, two weeks after GTA 5

Create and share your own races and deathmatches at launch, more later on

Grand Theft Auto Online will be delivered about two weeks after the release of Grand Theft Auto 5.

In a new Grand Theft Auto Online interview with CVG, Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies said GTA Online could have launched at the same time as the main game, but that the studio considers it to be "a different entity, a separate thing".

He explained: "It'll be GTA Online; it's not part of GTA 5. Obviously it's set in the GTA 5 engine, but it's going to grow and evolve into its own thing." Access to GTA Online will come for free with every retail copy of GTA 5.

image_308143_fit_620.jpg

Benzies went on to discuss plans to release a comprehensive set of creator tools for GTA Online, although he said Rockstar doesn't want to overwhelm users at launch.

"Initially, you'll be able to create races and deathmatches, which are probably the simplest. And then, over time, when we feel comfortable that people are ready to get the new creators, they will be released. So it'll be a trickle, but it'll be a constant release of new creators and new content. We don't want to overdo it. It's a complex system.

"That's another reason for the two week delay between single-player and Online. We want to give people an opportunity to actually get their heads around what's happened, because even single-player is a big advancement from the old games. There's a lot of new things to learn."

GTA Online will be accessible through a fourth character on GTA 5's character Switch Wheel, which will become available after two weeks.

"When it launches, you'll have an extra character on your Switch Wheel. Instead of choosing Franklin, Michael or Trevor, you'll select your multiplayer character and you'll be sucked straight in there," Benzies explained.

GTA Online may arrive in the form of "a tiny download", he added, "but it'll just be a code. We've just got to figure out how that will work with Sony and Microsoft."

Rockstar has confirmed a US and European GTA 5 release date of September 17 on Xbox 360 and PS3. The game will launch in Japan on October 10.

Full Grand Theft Auto Online interview

@2:17 "Rockstar will be constantly developing new content for you to enjoy" - confirmed DLC

Shame player count hasn't been confirmed. If it's the same as previous, that will be disappointing.

Its 16.

Grand Theft Auto Online is a dynamic and persistent online world for 16 players that begins by sharing gameplay features, geography and mechanics with Grand Theft Auto V, but will continue to expand and evolve after its launch with new content created by Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto community. Grand Theft Auto Online takes the fundamental Grand Theft Auto concepts of freedom, ambient activity and mission-based gameplay and makes them available to multiple players in an incredibly detailed and responsive online world.

Why would you have assumed other wise?

Because it's 2013, not 2005.

P2P limits the player count, and with GTA V to have such a massively vast world, it could have better potential to support more than just 16 players.

It's just a shame Rockstar didn't hold out for Xbox One / PS4 and their server support, but as I said previously a few pages back, my main reason for buying this game is single player so I don't really care too much.

Doesn't the hardware limit player count? I certainly never expected more than 16 players.

I still think it's a bit short sighted to say "because it's 2013". Just because there is a large map doesn't mean there needs to be a huge player count, Also keep in mind that the world is already full of A.I.

    • If you can't spell a simple word that 2nd graders learn, your entire argument is suspect.
    • And here goes the "Won't someone think of the children" brigade. Get stuffed mate. This has NOTHING to do with making the internet safe. It's about tracking adults, spying on your online activity, and sending the boys around when they don't like something you post. Also, again, parliament have voted TWICE against this, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. THAT is anti-democratic bullsh**. They will use this law to track you, they will use this law to control you, and they will use this law to punish you if they don't like what you do, even if it's legal. And your data? Say bye bye to that. It'll be on the darkweb in weeks. I'm not some rando online. I've been an IT professional for 40 years, many of it in security. I know exactly what this means and what will happen to your data. I do not consent and I will not comply.
    • "...but it may not be Microsoft's fault" seems like a reasonable way to tease what is going on without leaving the user with a false impression that an update is the problem. A title isn't a summery, it is meant to entice the user to read the article. It should not contain a misleading premise; which this title does not. You could maybe complain that the first paragraph should have included that detail. The writing style popularized over 100 years ago in newspapers will cover the most important information as soon as possible with details and nuance added later; the idea being that with each new paragraph you have less of the reader's focus.
    • Samsung Galaxy XR arrives in the UK with new AI and enterprise features by Fiza Ali Samsung is bringing its Galaxy XR headset to the UK several months after the device made its debut as the first headset built on Google's Android XR platform. The headset was first teased in late 2024 alongside Google's introduction of Android XR before making its commercial debut in 2025. Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, Galaxy XR combines mixed reality experiences with Gemini-powered AI features, allowing users to interact with digital content using voice, gestures, and visual inputs. While the hardware itself remains largely unchanged from the version Samsung unveiled last year, the company is using the UK launch to spotlight several software enhancements that have arrived through recent updates. Among the most notable additions is deeper integration with Google's ecosystem. Galaxy XR users can explore destinations through Google Maps' Immersive View, receiving AI-powered recommendations and contextual information from Gemini while navigating virtual environments. Furthermore, entertainment experiences have also expanded; users can watch 180-degree and 360-degree videos on YouTube, browse spatial content converted into 3D, and ask Gemini questions about on-screen content without interrupting playback. Samsung is also highlighting mixed-reality features such as Circle to Search, which allows users to identify real-world objects through hand gestures while using the headset's video pass-through mode. Another feature automatically converts photos and videos into spatial 3D experiences. Moreover, the headset now also supports Android Enterprise, allowing organisations to manage deployments using existing Android management tools. Annika Bizon, Vice President, Product and Marketing, Mobile Experience, Samsung UK & Ireland, talked about the device, stating: The headset is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform and features dual 4K Micro-OLED displays. The tech giant says that users can expect up to 2.5 hours of battery life. Samsung also confirmed that Galaxy XR will continue receiving software and security updates as the company works alongside Google and Qualcomm to expand the Android XR ecosystem. Galaxy XR is now available for pre-order and will go on sale on 8 July. Customers interested in trying the headset before launch can visit Samsung KX in London and selected Samsung Experience Stores from 17 June. Finally, the company will also host a livestream on 19 June showcasing the headset's capabilities and answering questions from prospective customers.
