This concept looks far nicer than what Apple have created

Change the wallpaper on iOS 7 to a graphite gradient and you largely get the same thing. I like the drop shadows behind icons, but I really don't see what makes the mockup "far nicer".

Probably, I don't think we'll see a radical UI shift in Mavericks.

One of the gripes I do have with iOS 7 is that the thinner font on the lock screen makes it hard to see against a light background. Seems if you go pure white, the text will change to black, but with certain wallpapers, it can be hard to read. This could probably be fixed by applying a black outline around the text. It's probably something that will be addressed in an upcoming beta release, though. And I do like the thinner font they're using (seems to be Helvetica Neue Ultra Light.)

Looks like Apple weren't exaggerating with the battery life promises for the new MBAs. After five hours of using it on and off, with Skype, Linkinus, Safari, Mail.app and Twitter.app running the battery is still at 71% charge. Not bad at all.

I like it as well. The only thing I really dislike is how different it looks from OS X now. I guess we'll have to wait until 2014 before OS X gets the same treatment.

I'm really surprised at how different Mavericks looks from iOS 7 considering how they've been merging the platforms over the last several release cycles.

One thing I hate is the new dynamic wallpapers. I wish there was a way to turn off the tilt crap. Quite frankly, I find it pointless.

This has probably been asked before, and maybe I'm just living in a dreamworld, but I was really, really hoping that Apple would allow default app choices. It really wouldn't be difficult to do in terms of the user experience: Settings > Defaults and then they could allow sections for Mail, Calendar, To-Dos, etc.

Is there any chance that may be coming in the near future (maybe a later beta of iOS 7, but more likely, at this point, iOS 8+)?

At D11, Cook hinted at allowing more control over the experience and it really is time to give power users this choice.

I'd like to see them copy Windows 8 where we can delete the stock apps, but if we decide we want them back, they're in the App Store. Also, this would make those apps more modular and can be updated in between release cycles.

Anyone think this is even in the cards?

I actually felt pretty positive after WWDC. I thought IOS7 looked interesting, as did OSX Mavericks. and I really like the look of the Mac Pro but am a little terrified at how much its going to cost even in most basic spec. Will have to wait and see as I would love to pick one up and come back to using a Mac as my main PC again.

There's no way to download all songs from a playlist when you have iTunes Match in iOS 7. You have to download every song manually. That's pretty annoying.

That and the battery life seems a lot worse! I mean I expected a drop, since it is a beta. I roughly made the day at work with my iPhone, just playing around with the software.

That was typical of iOS 6 when the first beta came out, it gradually got better though.

I really like it, but since I need my phone on a long day with a lasting battery I just reverted to iOS6. But definitely gonna try the beta 2

This will be the first day at work with iOS 7, I'll see how it holds up.

I have been using it as my daily driver since Monday and its been fine. I do notice more battery drain and I do get random springboard reboots, but nothing major and definitely expected.

My biggest complaint has to be some apps are not working with it. Especially my work email app. Thats killing me right now

It's a good reason and i believe it's part of Apple's strategy to keep you from leaving Apple :)

That's definitely part of their strategy! I know many people like this. I have a PC, Macbook Pro, and Galaxy S3 so I'm kind of all over the place lol

I had an iPhone 3G, 3GS, and iPhone 4 and it was hard to leave their ecosystem for an android but I did want a more innovative and less "locked down" phone and I'm happy I did.

Same. It was 80% at 5 in the morning and at 3 in the afternoon, completely dead. Worst is, I can't say I've played a lot with it.

Plus, the new design really doesn't grow on me. There's a lot of inconsistencies and a lot of things that are impossible to understand unless you have a good history of using iOS.

I've been telling people since 2 years ago that I wanted the fifth iteration of the iPad and since iOS7 beta 1, I'm currently reconsidering my decision, and already regret the purchase of my iPhone 5. Apple fanboy speaking. And yes, when I buy an iPhone, I take in consideration that updates bring a lot of value to it to all the iPhones in the world at the same moment. So the "you're not forced to upgrade" argument doesn't cut it, especially because I've just paid for my product.

My verdict is...

With iOS7, Apple has killed the flavor and appeal of iOS.

Did apple open up AppleTV to third party apps?

Interesting, i enjoy the new updates, for me there are something i would like to see happen, but over im happy with it. But i have to say im not very happy with the new icons.

Oh there's a bunch of interesting new features in iOS 7 : Built-in Flashlight access, Control Center, Moments, FaceTime Audio, iTunes Radio, AirDrop, higher capacity Folders, Panning Wallpaper, the new Leveling tool provided in the Compass App, the new Multi-Tabbing UI, the possibility that they'll do a landscape mode with the Home Page, etc.

Too bad the poor design nulls its value.

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
