[general] AutoPatcher XP for other languages

Recommended Posts

@Twisted Maniac - Hmmm... yeah, I'm sure more people will see that movie than the new AutoPatcher, but whatcha gonna do? lol

i'm gonna let autopatcher patch my system WHILE i'm whatching my new preciousssss (the new LOTR) :p

As a frequent visitor of a Dutch tweakers site (tweakers.net, I today read a thread about windows update CD's. Off course I've mentioned this alternative.... :D One guy there gave a link to the Microsoft update page, where you can simply select AND download all the updates for your particular OS AND language.......... Dunno if you allready know this site, I haven't seen it anywhere here.......

The link is: Windows Update.

Hope this helps with different versions.........

Yep! That site will be a good help when it comes to getting the other language versions of the updates. :)

Sory, But yasterday my IE was not working properly, so i only saw the first two posts.

so i reply asking

Today I saw 7 pages that i didnt saw it before.

thanks a lot :shifty:

It's okay, it was under another name, so it was renamed and merged with yours. :)

Currently it won't work, but after the Dec release is out, we will start work on making different Language versions of the AutoPatcher. Also, included in the Dec release will be instructions on how to make your own custom language release.

i wish MS would make Multiligual hotfixes, like they do for MS Office... i know they would be huge, but it would make it a lot easier for admins...

You can say that again. I don't think it'll ever happen, though.

You can say that again.

There ya go:

Hehehehe :D

Yeah, MS will never do that.... sad...

Hi guys,

First: great job and thank you for your all your efforts: you will make my life much easier :)

Second: I know, by reading other threads, that you plan to extend your work to non-English version of Windows XP: so I am just asking here some hint to make my own until you finish yours.

I want to customize it for a French version.

I looked at

(1) http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/d...?corporate=true

and compare the files given with those from

(2) http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/fr/d...?corporate=true

and then with the files of Autopatcher.

I have a couple questions:

1?) Why Autopatcher doesn't include patches like Q817606_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.exe (Buffer Overrun in Windows Could Lead to Data Corruption (817606), here)

Yet, it is given by both (1) and (2).

2?) Why the updates you can get from the links above, can differ from those you got when you use the regular Windows update.

3?) It seems that the french version and the american one don't always need the same patches.

If so (not quite sure yet), is it possible to add patches by adding axp files and updating your autopatcherxp.apdb ?

thanks

Here's some answers, then I will merge this with the thread that has info on how to do it. (Y)

1. Because that patch (and others) are contained in Q826939 - Update Rollup

2. Because Windows Update doesn't show all updates all the time.

3. Absolutely. (Y)

Now then... let's merge this here.... ;)

Please help me.

I have been waiting for Autopatcher to be lauched in other languages, mainly in portuguese (PT).

But meanwhile I decided to make my custom language install.

I have downloaded AutoPatcherXP_Mar04_Full.exe and all the portuguese windows XP patches.

But where are the batch files I am supposed to edit?

I can't find any .bat file.

What am I missing?

FlishFun wrote:

1. You need to download all of the files that you want to be in your custom language from Microsoft.

2. You need to open all the batch files for the files you will be overwriting. Inside there you'll see something like this (I'll use Q322011.bat as an example):

here a small screenshot tutorial? i hope it help somehow:

Ill be doing this with Q824141... Most of the hotfixes follow the same procedure (some need special instructions, which Jason will build for you...)

1. put the patch you downloaded in the ProgFiles dir, where the english one is... after this tutorial you can delete the english one...

2. back in the main batch file dir (currently AutoPatcher EXE's folder, but \Batches from December release), i edit the file Q824141.bat (normal version) and Q824141-n.bat (no-backup version)

3. in notepad i change ENU to DEU so it will point to the file you downloaded...

4. save the changes, and its should be ok

5. delete the english version of the Q824141 in \ProgFiles now

Thanks in advance.

Ok, thanks for your quick answer.

And thank you for your work.

So, I will be waiting for your XML editor. Please make it very simple for us newbies :) :) .

Meanwhile, isn't there any simple way to do it? It's not enough to replace the english microsoft patches for the portuguese?

By the way, will you release some time soon the other languages autopatcher?

Bye

    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.

    • Exciting! It’s amazing how hearing Japanese can naturally enhance the perceived quality of any experience or product.
