[general] AutoPatcher XP for other languages

That was quite a good translation........

How is that done????

Actually I got it from this site here:

World Lingo Translation Services

It was one of the few that I found that had "Dutch --> English/English --> Dutch" and was free. :) The downside, it's a VERY slow loading page (at least for me).

All right.....I've tried it with a few lines and a bigger piece of text, but it has many mistakes........I woulnd't trust this site to do your translations, is not quite as good as I initially thought.....Nothing beats a human mind......

Well, I found a free "English to Dutch" translator, but I don't know dutch so I have no idea if this makes any sense, let me know. :)

Bijvoorbeeld, Het Engels is ENU, Het Duits is DEU, enz.

LOL @ translation, it sucks but its readable ;)

Sorry 'bout the translation, guys. I'm only one man and can only do so much. I figured the translation would be crappy, but I was hoping it would be about semi-readable. ;) As long as it helps, that's all that matters. I know a human touch is better, but I sorta didn't have one at the time. haha

Hey FlishFun........no worries.......no flame to you, mate! ;)

What I intended to say is that it would be allright for a basic understanding of the text, but when there's going to be an all Dutch/ all Languages version of Autopatcher, I'd recommend to do the necessary translations by hand and that I'd be willing to help to translate things to Dutch. Fortunately, most Dutch people speak rather good English, so not everything would have to be translated..........

Ah, okay. I just sorta felt bad because even though I want to do it all for you guys, I can't. :(

But as far as the translations go, if you want, when I finish the readme and stuff for the AP (Dec Update), you can translate it all to Dutch. The AP itself will stay in English (for our own reasons... mainly because it would take ages to code it for every language), though.

I'll do my best..........Dunno how much work it is, but we'll see......Would be nice to contribute something to this great alternative........

Although I use Win2K English, a lot of firends etc where I come to update and maintain their comps use WinXP....and I would be very thankfull not to take their comp home anymore to download all updates with my cable connection..... ;)

Well, if you don't feel you'll have enough time or whatever, that'll be fine. I was originally going to have it in English, but if you're willing to, I'd love to see it in Dutch. Also, about the same time the Dec Release hits, AutoPatcher 2000 should be out as well... so that should hook your 2000 machine up. :D

It just depends on how much text there is to translate........Maybe some other dutch forum members can help......

Just give me the text that has to be translated as early as possible and I'll do my smelling best (that's a dutch joke.....:o) )!!!!!

I'm more then willing to help, don't get me wrong.......

No problem, as soon as it's done I'll get it to you. And I'll try to have it done shortly. Thanks again! :)

[offtopic]

hehe...why use a dutch OS version? (i'm dutch) allmost the entire i-net is in english....and i use i-net a lot! :p so if u use another language OS you'll never get used to english :p

[/offtopic]

but yeah...it's a nice idea..the language pack.....

Why Dutch? Because the majority of people where I come, use the Dutch version of XP. And since you can't use the english verison of autopatcherXP, I would be very happy with a Dutch version (mind you: not dutch language, but dutch updates). Only a few things will be translated to Dutch, like readme's etc.

just to translate the AutoPatcher GUI...that's what u lookin @ and reading.....so that is logically the most importand part to translate. and ofcourse the helpfiles and stuff...

I think it's time we decided on what to tanslate....the entire GUI or just helpfiles/readme's etc.

I prefer in first instance to just translate the helpfiles/readme's.....i think that in these files the most "difficult" English is used. In GUI just "Do you want this/that, press ok" (or something)

Actually it would just be the help files. Raptor and I thought about it, but with all the different languages out there, it would take ages to code them all in. So our thought was:

GUI - English

Help Files - Dutch (or other language)

Updates - Dutch(or other language)

:)

Flish:

Reading you loud and clear and standing by to translate............

Twisted: U gonna help me????

SIR! yes SIR! :p

gimme the stuff and i bring you the goodz :p

and flish...isn't there some sort of dll u can use that sets the language?....i mean..some programs heve the option to select multiple languages by using language dll's or smth....(i'm no coder so i dunno...just trying to think logically:P)

@theteek - Yes, it should still work. :) You may need to change a few things, but we'll help you out. :D

@Twisted Maniac - Nope, it's not a dll. I already talked to Raptor, it's actually recoding the entire AP just to add in the support for other languages. So right now it just supports english, but if we decided to add one lang, we'd pretty much have to add almost all, and poor Raptor would be codin' for weeks. hahaha

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
