Post counts are in multiple places, there's even pages for most posts ever, today etc and as I pointed out, it's easy to find if people really need to know.

I understand that, but a lot of members, myself included, don't really come here just to help people. I help people when I can, but most of the time I am reading about news, entertainment, ect.. Just seems that Neowin is putting a lot of focus in one bucket and leaving others kinda hanging.. Just my two cents.. I spoke my opinion and I'll let it go.

Can the thread starter still select their own posts as Best Answer in a thread?

Shh stop telling everyone my secret methods to get best answer. :p

In all seriousness I've seen people mark their own post as best answer.

The post count doesn't matter at all as far as I'm concerned. You can have someone with 500 posts giving better technical answers than someone else with 110,000 posts.

So yes, good move.

Maybe we should replace best answers with Likes then.

Or maybe put it under Best Answer.

So how do you vote for a Best Answer? Or does it happen automatically based on the number of likes a post receives?

The OP is the one who decides the best answer for the thread. :)

Why not have Best Answers & Post Count?  Post Count actually means something for many people. :pinch:

I'm intrigued to know what it means to people? I've seen people with a high post count that just post gibberish, and others with an incredibly low post count, but a majority of their replies have been well thought out posts. Do you treat someone with a high post count differently than someone with a low post count? I'm genuinely asking, as I really can't see any benefit to post counts.

Right. But this isn't just a forum for tech help.. It's much bigger than that.. This isn't TechNet. They should simply show both.

To me post count means you actually put in time on the forum. I couldn't care less if you think my posts are gibberish that's all a matter of opinion but when I see high post counts that means to me that they're active and contribute to the forum.

And like fusion said this isn't just a tech forum.

Because we're always told Neowin has become more than a tech site, and post count shows you're more involved in the community of Neowin.

But don't the stars on their own do that? And again, it's not like you can't hover over the user for a split second to see their actual post count...

I like this change. Less motivation to spam and more motivation to contribute positively to the community :)

    • Never fails to surprise me that Nvidia continually release drivers with "Known Issues". Surely they have the staff on hand to fix these issues before release as they have made bucket loads of cash over the years.
    • Microsoft announces new Surface Laptop with 5G by Taras Buria In late January 2025, Microsoft announced two new Surface computers for business customers: the Surface Laptop and the Surface Pro, both powered by Intel's latest Core Ultra 200 Series processors. Back then, Microsoft promised to release an optional Surface Laptop configuration with 5G connectivity, and today, the company is finally delivering one of the most requested features from business customers. The Surface Laptop 5G (that's the name) is now official. This 13.8-inch laptop is the same as its non-cellular siblings, with the only difference being 5G support with Nano SIM and eSIM compatibility. However, as Microsoft says in the announcement post, equipping a laptop with 5G is not just putting a modem inside. Microsoft had to carefully engineer a so-called "dynamic antenna system" that adapts to the environment and ensures the best reception by having six strategically placed antennas. The laptop can seamlessly switch between cellular connection and Wi-Fi to ensure uninterrupted connection. Also, it can work as a mobile hotspot for other devices in areas where Wi-Fi is not available. Unlike other laptops with antennas near the bottom of the device, the Surface Laptop 5G has its antennas placed higher for reduced interference. Microsoft also developed a new case material, multi-layered laminate, that allows radio signals to pass through without reducing performance, while still delivering the durability, lightness, and premium feel of Surface products. Like the rest of modern Surface devices, the Surface Laptop 5G is a Copilot+ PC with Intel's NPU that enables various AI-powered experiences and features such as Recall, Click to Do, and more. The Surface Laptop 5G will be available on August 26, 2025. In addition to the Surface Laptop 5G, Microsoft is launching the recently announced Surface Laptop 13-inch and Surface Pro 12-inch for business customers.
