Malaysia Airlines 'loses contact with plane' (and search effort updates)

Recommended Posts

is there any wreckage yet? or are they still spouting the unconfirmed bull?

Supposed to be bad weather, so it may be a day or two yet.

I too will be highly surprised if they come up with flight MH370 specific material.

The south Indian ocean is a vast junkyard.

I do wonder if this 777 jet was flown and landed in another country, for bad purposes, would they admit it .... ?

CNN is reporting that some final partial 'ping' was received from MH370, which may or may not be a clue where the plane went down.

Search weather is good for Wednesday.

Well, the weather being good is great :) Finally they can find it.

BTW, Im sure this has been posted MANY times in this thread but this in case: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysian_Airline_System_Flight_653

Are there official news of exact whereabouts of the missing plane (MH370)?

Not really -- objects are sighted, then drift away.

Some objects were photographed, but only ships can pick them up.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority, which is coordinating the southern search operation Malaysia's behalf, said the focus Wednesday will be on an 30,900 square miles swathe of ocean. Ships and aircraft are looking for possible debris that has drifted from the suspected crash zone. The area is about 1,240 miles southwest of Perth.

Various pieces of floating objects have been spotted by planes and satellite, but none have been retrieved or identified.

so it could just be floating rubbish?

^ Yes -- lots of junk ends up in that part of the ocean.

Satellite spots 122 objects in ocean

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (CNN) -- New satellite images provided by a French defense firm show 122 objects floating in the southern Indian Ocean, not far from other satellite sightings that could be related to missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the Malaysian transport minister said Wednesday.

The objects were scattered over 154 square miles (400 square kilometers), acting Transportation Minister Hishammuddin Bin Hussein said.

I don't want to get my hopes up that there may be an end to this mystery, but there seems to be a definate feel to all this information that we are getting "closer" to finding out what happened. Sure it could still be months but there seems that there is a general idea of where the plane may now rest and its just a matter of time before its found rather than if we will ever find it.

I believe the pings were every hour - which means it could still be almost anywhere :/

Y'know... There's one thing that's annoying me a little bit with all this.  I don't know if it's just not being reported, but we're seeing an awful lot of anger at the Malay government from the families of those on MH370, but not one drop of gratitude towards all the governments spending millions in cash, manpower and resources on looking for a plane that's not even their responsibility...

Saw this floating around Facebook...

"MH 370 - a conspiracy theory.

Have you heard of this conspiracy theory regarding the disappearance of MH 370? The story goes like this:

The Americans are withdrawing from the Afghanistan, one of their command and control system (used for controlling the pilot-less drones) was hijacked by the taliban when the American transport convoy was moving down from one of the hill top bases. The taliban ambushed the convoy and killed 2 American Seal personnel, seized the equipment/weapons, including the command and control system which weighed about 20 tons and packed into 6 crates. This happened about a month ago in Feb 2014.

What the taliban want is money. They wanted to sell the system to the Russians or the Chinese. The Russians were too busy in Ukraine. The Chinese are hungry for the system's technology. Just imagine if the Chinese master the technology behind the command and control system, all the American drones will become useless. So the Chinese sent 8 top defense scientists to check the system and agreed to pay millions for it.

Sometime in early Mar 2014, the 8 scientists and the 6 crates made their way to Malaysia, thinking that it was the best covert way to avoid detection. The cargo was then kept in the Embassy under diplomatic protection. Meanwhile the American has engaged the assistance of Israeli intelligence, and together they are determined to intercept and recapture the cargo.

The Chinese calculated that it will be safe to transport it via civilian aircraft so as to avoid suspicion. After all the direct flight from KL to Beijing takes only 4 and half hours, and the American will not hijack or harm the civilian. So MH370 is the perfect carrier.

There are 5 American and Israeli agents onboard who are familiar with Boeing operation. The 2 "Iranians" with stolen passports could be among them.

When MH370 is about to leave the Malaysian air space and reporting to Vietnamese air control, one American AWAC jammed their signal, disabled the pilot control system and switched over to remote control mode. That was when the plane suddenly lost altitude momentarily.

How the AWAC can do it ? Remember 911 incident ? After the 911 incident, all Boeing aircraft (and possibly all Airbus) are installed with remote control system to counter terrorist hijacking. Since then all the Boeing could be remote controlled by ground control tower. The same remote control system used to control the pilotless spy aircraft and drones.

The 5 American/Israeli agents soon took over the plane, switched off the transponder and other communication system, changed course and flew westwards. They dare not fly east to Philippines or Guam because the whole South China Sea air space was covered by Chinese surveillance radar and satellite.

The Malaysian, Thai and Indian military radars actually detected the unidentified aircraft but did not react professionally.

The plane flew over North Sumatra, Anambas, South India and then landed at Maldives (some villagers saw the aircraft landing), refueled and continued its flight to Garcia Deigo, the American Air Base in the middle of Indian Ocean. The cargo and the black box were removed. The passengers were silenced via natural means, so it looks like n accident. They believe only dead person will not talk. The MH370 with dead passengers were air borne again via remote control and crashed into South Indian Ocean, make it to believe that the plane eventually ran out of fuel and crashed, and blame the defiant captain and copilot.

The Americans have put up a good show. First diverting all the attention and search effort in the South China Sea while the plane made their way to Indian Ocean. Then they came out with some conflicting statement and evidence to confuse the world. The Australian is the co-actor.

The amount of effort put up by China, in terms of the number of search aircraft, ships and satellites, searching first the South China Sea, then the Malacca Straits and the Indian Ocean is unprecedented. This showed that the China is very concerned, not so much because of the many Chinese civilian passengers, but mainly the high value cargo and its 8 top defense scientists."

^ A movie can be made on this

.. Since when to commercial airliners have a "remote control mode"?

Thanks for the update Hum.

China challenges MH370 crash claims

IT was always declared an inexact science albeit using the latest technology.

But the analysis of a wavelength that travelled between Earth and an orbiting satellite 35,800km away that concluded Flight MH-370 crashed into the Indian Ocean is now being challenged by Chinese authorities.

East London-based satellite firm Inmarsat made the unlikely breakthrough that redirected searchers for the lost Malaysia Airline to the Southern hemisphere and yesterday prompted Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak to confirm the plane had crashed.

But it is now being challenged to explain their findings by Chinese authorities that today demanded the records turned over by Malaysian authorities to ascertain for themselves the fate of their 153 Chinese nationals among the 239 on-board MH370.

Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered a special envoy Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui to Kuala Lumpur to secure first-hand analysis while deputy Foreign Minister Xie Hangshend ordered Malaysia?s ambassador to China to establish what it was that led to Mr Najib making the declaration the plane had crashed in the Indian Ocean.

Ahhh good old Facebook armchair experts.

Good theory apart from the fact its complete bull. Boeing (Commerical) planes do not have this capability, no matter what the conspiracy theorists say.

My source? I work with the aircraft day in day out (particularly 747, 777). Even if the hardware was hidden, such a thing would have be stated in the manual due to all the regulation involved for a start. Then you have the fact that airlines would be extremely miffed at the fact someone other than their pilots would be able to control their aircraft - that's a big no-no.

Its so annoying when truth, facts and reality get in the way of a good conspiracy theory!
