Here's why FIFA 21 on PC will be inferior to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
      by Usama Jawad

FIFA 21 launched on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC early last month and is scheduled to land on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 4. The launch will come as a free update to owners of the game on latest consoles and will pack several new features not available on previous consoles and PC. Now, the publisher has revealed why "next-gen" features won't be making their way to PC platforms.

FIFA 21 on the latest game consoles includes features such as ball compression, a new camera angle, and muscle deformation. However, none of these will be making their way to the PC because EA wants to lower the barrier of entry in terms of specifications. In an interview with Eurogamer, Executive Producer Aaron McHardy had the following to say:

Looking at the statement, one has to wonder why EA couldn't figure out some workaround to keep the gen five features as optional on PC so people with powerful rigs could utilize them while gamers on lower-end PCs can simply switch them off for increased performance.

Given that the minimum requirements of the PC version are quite modest - requiring an Nvidia GTX 660 (2GB VRAM) or AMD Radeon HD 7850 (2GB VRAM), 8GB of RAM, and Intel Core i3-6100 or AMD Athlon X4 880K CPU - it definitely makes sense to not have "next-gen" capabilities on these machines. But ideally, there should have been an option to enable this for gamers on high-end machines.

Warframe to launch for the PS5 later this week on November 26
      by Namerah Saud Fatmi

A couple of weeks ago, Digital Extremes announced that its current-gen shooting title Warframe would be making its way to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Prior to this, the free-to-play video game was available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms.

Up until now, the Canadian video game maker had yet to share a concrete release date for the next-gen release of Warframe. This changed today when Sheldon Carter, COO of Digital Extremes, shared the release information on the PlayStation blog. He revealed that the third-person shooting game will be launching on Sony's next-gen console this very week, on November 26.

Carter also stated that PS5 users will get to play Warframe at 4K and a frame rate of 60fps. The game will also support cross-generation play for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players. It is going to feature a new open world called The Duviri Paradox and also a new chapter continuing the story of the game titled The New War.

Those who are interested in acquiring their free copy of Warframe may do so by visiting the PlayStation Store on their PS5 consoles.

Rainbow Six Siege comes to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on December 1
      by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe

Ubisoft announced the next-gen version of Rainbow Six Siege a couple of months ago, and now, it has a date attached to it. Starting on December 1, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players will be able to jump into the popular tactical shooter with smoother frame rates and at higher resolutions over the previous generation consoles.

The developer is giving players two graphics modes: Performance and Resolution. The former will target 120FPS gameplay with dynamic resolution scaling to hit 4K, while the latter turns up the resolution to native 4K but only with a 60FPS target.

While the above options will be available for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 players, Xbox Series S owners will find that their Performance Mode will play the game at 1080p targetting 120FPS, while Resolution Mode will target 60FPS at 1728p. Interestingly, this is the same resolution the Xbox One X utilizes for the game.

There are some platform-specific enhancements too. Quick Resume support will be available on the Xbox Series X|S, while the PlayStation 5 version is gaining some additional capabilities in the form of DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and controller sound output, as well as Activities support.

Ubisoft is offering free upgrades of Rainbow Six Siege to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players who upgrade to a next-gen console within the same family. All players will also keep their progression and items through the transfer process. The latest major update incoming to the tactical shooter, Operation Neon Dawn, could be landing alongside this release as well, bringing a laser-wielding Thai operator and a Skyscraper rework.

Flight Simulator's second World Update brings visual updates to the U.S.
      by Abhay Venkatesh

After delivering the first World Update in September that brought improvements to the scenery and airports in Japan, Microsoft’s second Flight Simulator content drop this time focuses on the U.S.A, just in time for the holidays. World Update II: USA is now rolling out as a free update to Xbox Game Pass for PC, Windows 10, and Steam users. The update also fixes a bunch of bugs and other known issues.

The update brings improved elevation maps for terrain, resolution improvements “up to one meter”, aerial texture enhancements for better appearance, and four new “hand-crafted airports”, says the firm. These airports include Atlanta (KATL), Dallas/Fort Worth (KDFW), Friday Harbor (KFHR), and New York Stewart (KSWF).

The firm has also improved the visuals of 48 other airports and has added 50 new “points of interest” – areas with enhanced visuals. Some of these include the White House, Washington Monument, Capitol, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas Strip, and more. You can head to the release notes here to view the entire list.

Additionally, the update also brings a new Bush Trip “across the Alaskan wilderness” and a Discovery Flight through iconic east coast locations. The firm notes that users will have to head to the Marketplace to claim the World Update after downloading the latest patch for the simulator.

As for the list of fixes, patch version 1.11.6.0 brings with it a bunch of fixes for airplanes such as remedies for the fuel consumption issue on the Boeing 747-8 and the A320neo. Other elements such as the UI, activity logs, input devices have also received improvements.

      Here is the complete changelog:

Overall, the updates to performance and the improved visuals for the locations in the U.S. bring with it welcome additions right in time for the holiday weekend, especially with the pandemic forcing more people indoors.

Rockstar will offer Red Dead Online as a standalone game priced at $4.99
      by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe

Rockstar Games' open-world western epic Red Dead Redemption 2 is gaining a new version soon, as the studio today announced that its online mode is being spun off to be offered as a standalone game. The release date is set for December 1, and it will be available for $4.99 as an introductory price.

The Red Dead Online standalone version will be the complete online experience, with story-based cooperative missions, player vs player Showdown modes, Specialist Roles, Free Roam Missions, and much more available across the massive open world.

The $4.99 introductory price will go away after February 15, 2021, bumping up the cost of the standalone multiplayer game to $19.99. Rockstar will also offer an option to unlock the Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode from within this variant, but the exact cost of this upgrade was not announced today.

Although it is a standalone experience, it doesn't appear as though the installation size requirements are changing, as the studio revealed the game will require up to 123GB of free space.

Red Dead Online will be available for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and Rockstar Games Launcher), Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 users will be able to play the game using backward compatibility also. Moreover, since this is a fully multiplayer experience, PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold memberships are required for console players.
