Microsoft is killing off the Internet Explorer brand

I really hate to use strong words here but I think this proves - to me anyways - that people are easily brainwashed.  I am saying this based on the logic that you recompile IE but change the browser name to Microsoft and then people use that instead of the IE in question.

 

They're going to call it Microsoft Krome.

I am totally glad they are changing the name.    IE was a laughing stock of the internet (even though later versions were good)  - and this memory is not going away.

i almost feel that microsoft choice of code names is better then final naming in many ways (which are usually dissapointing)

Spartan is a fairly bad name. I mean, "Chrome" isn't the best name, but it sounds... like a performance car. Either way, I want it.

Well if following the halo, spartan follows cortana. Could also end up being master chief...That would be a bad name.

I think having to do with Halo is just a bonus for them. If you get past the popular definitions and connotations 'spartan' also means simple/frugal/austere, which I can only assume loosely describes the browser they're trying to create.

I just hope they don't throw out one of the best things about IE the extensive group policy options there are hundreds of them to enable sysadmins to tweak it to their needs.
