did you bother to read the others....

That?s real but it might still change (and most definitely will).

That's probably my favorite comment in the article. Very interesting.

Nothing is set in stone and if you guys try a preview (technical in couple weeks or consumer in January) you need to give Microsoft feedback on what you like and what you don?t (smile or frown tool will be accessible from any part of the OS).

New OneCore update system allows for A/B testing (it?s literally the same system as on Xbox One) so you might get completely different taskbar than your friend running same update, and similarly ? you guys need to rate things accordingly.

Yes. I have no clue who those people are, and no one offered concrete proof that it's real.

The UI could be out of alignment because they've changed something else and haven't tweaked things right yet.  You can add things into a UI to test them out for a bit and not put the finishing touches on it so that it all matches perfect you know.    Not saying it's real or fake, only that just because one thing doesn't line up with something else does not prove something 100%.

The rumor about MS working on a new build preview system, being used internally right now, where some users get some bits and others get other bits so they can get feedback from more people, isn't anything new.   It's been reported on even here before iirc, and besides, I like the changes either way.  I think the notification button placement works better all the way to the right and not before the systray like in the first leakes we've seen.  I also like the option of having a fully transparent taskbar, why not?

Say goodbye to bright and "busy" wallpapers.

That issue already exists, unless you use everything maximized. Let's wait and see what full screen / maximized apps even look like in 9 and whether the look/visibility of the task bar is adapted in some way. Personally I'm wondering whether they'll keep both the maximize function as well as the Metro full screen mode.

Say goodbye to bright and "busy" wallpapers.

It could just allow you to set it, the point is if you have the option and you like it that way then why not?

Microsoft generally avoids such detail customizing, they stick to bigger global options that's easier for regular users to understand

It is possible that they could bring back the Windows transparency, and the Start Menu will use that setting

Why?  No worse could happen that wouldn't affect desktop icons too - ?

There's no drop shadows or any sort of contrast to the system tray icons, system time, and the white icons on the taskbar.

There's no drop shadows or any sort of contrast to the system tray icons, system time, and the white icons on the taskbar.

There appears to be a darkening gradient at the bottom.  The new taskbar, may very well appear above content like the Status Bar does in Windows Phone???  Still not convinced this is real

You mean like the Desktop Icons???

Yes. Desktop icons have shadowed text to prevent that from bleeding into the wallpaper (although you can turn it off). Although the icons themselves have never been given a shadow. (Try setting a stock white wallpaper with a white desktop icon).

Having a taskbar full of icons like that would be bad. Either don't make it completely transparent or provide some kind of automatic contrast.

Because of that its fake? BS. Next time try harder

The credibility of that image is questionable even according to our very own Brad Sams! I will give it the benefit of the doubt by saying it has a credibility of 3/10.

A couple of reasons why I think someone Photoshopped it.

  1. Out of alignment
  2. No credible press people (MJF, Thurrott, Brad, Tom) have said it is real
  3. Build Number is off
  4. Look at the Files icon, the part of the metal holding the folder is completely transparent
  5. The image is taken at an angle but the mini-Start appears to be straight
  6. The mini-start is tranlucent, but the taskbar is completely transparent
  7. Why the sudden change in UI so rapidly? All the leaks we have seen have not seen such a rapid change
  8. Why is the Documents button a Tile ? Is it a new Modern UI app?
  9. Most icons on the desktop are borrowing from the Office 2013 icon theme I.E. the "This PC" and "Network" icons we saw in previous builds
  10. The wallpaper is completely different and the all apps button is now a down arrow. Why would this be changed from the previous builds all of a sudden.

This could have been a previous Threshold build that a team threw together as a mockup though.

I totally wish this was actually true.

Apple's dock seems to be fine and so does Chrome OS if the right wallpapers are chosen by default. I wish they went with a more natural photography pack.

These things are always hard to judge but the build number of 9857 seems extremely suspect to me based on all current known builds are in the 4X series. Also, this image originally appeared on 4chan, so take it with a grain of salt.

is where it comes from

Besides I don't think Microsoft would create such an ugly wallpaper as :

http://i.4cdn.org/g/1411207188393.png

looks very 1900s

I think you mean 1990's? 1900's wallpaper would be more floral patterns. :P

    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.

    • I've never even heard of this browser before seeing this article. How does it differ from other browsers?
    • Fixing things? Have you ever tried linux? Everything works out of the box nowadays in most common hardware. This includes Wifi and Bluetooth. If anything, if they return back to windows is because they haven't found an equivalent program which often used on windows.
    • 18 months ago I bought the 4TB variant for $380 CDN. Now it is $1500 CDN [$949 US].
