Microsoft shows off 'Metro Exodus'; utilizes Xbox One X' 4K capabilities

Microsoft has showcased an upcoming 'Metro' title at its E3 briefing. Dubbed 'Metro Exodus', the 4K gameplay footage shows off players taking on a variety of dangerous beasts using various weapons.

Following the announcement of its latest console, the Xbox One X, and Forza Motorsport 7, Microsoft has taken the wraps off a new Metro game as well. Titled Metro Exodus, the company revealed the game in an exhilarating trailer, which showed off the player taking on a variety of beasts in an apocalyptic setting, utilizing a variety of weapons including shotguns and crossbows.

It is interesting to note that the video shown off at E3 2017 was actual gameplay footage in a seemingly open-world environment, utilizing Xbox One X' native 4K rendering capabilities.

The previous Metro title was Metro: Last Light, which was released back in 2013 and was positively received.

A release date for Metro: Exodus hasn't been revealed as of yet, but it's expected in 2018.
