Steal on hard drives!

Recommended Posts

did anyone mention they are ATA-100? I will definately pass. I have a Maxtor 120gig ATA-133, so no thanks on a larger drive with less performance.

Yeah, but for us with ATA-100 boards, the 8MB cache is well worth it....you won't notice any difference between an 8MB cached drive at ATA-100 or an 8MB cached drive at ATA-133. At all.

nice news post creamhackered...

and doug is right... and especially if you RAID them as most people have stated they would be doing then of course you won't notice any difference. The PCI bus will max out before the HDD throughput does on a 3-4 drive striped array.

the price is $143.99 now

if ubid was smart they would allow their mistake to go through

it's not like they don't rip off thousands of people everyday themselves

try provantage sometimes they can't be beat for price

its all in the laws in the land you live in. i ordered that geforce4 4600ti for $129 from bestbuys website.

They had to honor the price since that is the law in virginia.

its call "switch and bait" it means that a seller can not charge a lower price and then jack it up to the right

price and cancel the sale or advertise other similar or same product.

if anything ubid will be losing buisness in the long run... im sure they sold all the drives at the low lahrd price

and if they cancel MY order im sure as hell no going back to them to do buisness!! im sure a lot of you would

agree w/ me on that!! its bad buisness to cancel the orders like that!!

When bestbuy actually sold me that card for $129 i have since then bought atleast several items since then

since they were human enough to be flexable. I will continue to buy from bestbuy at this rate.

as for ubid, if they cancel my order i will NEVER buy from them again!!

ya, I'm in Va as well, so maybe I can fight this down the road. But it's definitely a long term sort of thing. You can't really expect to hit them with a lawsuit and win, it really is just a technical mistake. And it's up to them whether they want to win over some customers for many years to come by honoring their prices, or lose them for ever.

uBid's Role and Responsibilities. uBid.com features two types of marketplaces, and uBid's role and responsibilities vary in each such marketplace.

uBid Direct Marketplace. uBid itself is the seller of the products offered in uBid Direct Marketplace. uBid undertakes responsibility for all aspects of the transaction and the product listing, including product descriptions, identification of quantities, establishment of starting and maximum bid prices, establishment of reserve requirements (if any) and shipping.

its Ubids responsibility for the price and not the users once the user had brought it

best buy sold me a TI4200 that was on sale, it keep breaking and i had to send it back, the second or third time i sent it back (yes i know, it was PNY and they kept giving me duds) they gave the me cash-back sale price again (it was a $60 rebate that brought it down to like $90, another $60 meant i was paying only like $30 for the card :))

The company i work for, DishNetwork sold a pay-per-event that was advertised as $23.95, but was supposed to be $32.95. Our system charged customers $32.95

on their bill. we did catch the error and made an adjustment for the difference. on top of that we issued a free pay-per-view coupon for people who had automatic

drafting and were actually charged. people were kinda angry that we messed up, rightfully so, but we accepted the loss and compensated fairly and also gave a bonus

to customers that actually paid for the PPV through direct credit card sale or automatic drafting. our customers were happy and not too mad, but since we admitted to the

error and corrected it fairly, they are happy to do buisness w/ us again and keep doing buisness w/ us.

the difference here is that IF[\b] ubid does cancel the orders, they will lose customers new and current who accepted the price for a product and were cancelled.

i see that in these 2 cases my company did the right[\b] thing, but there are other companies out there who can be fart-lahrds and admit they messed up and

not care about the customers that had expectations of a purchase and to be let down.

face it, if you get screwed by a company, it will stick to you for a very long time and on top of that you would tell other people of this and those people would tell

other people... in the end ubid would lose out on tons of potential customers and lose potential profits.

this is a no-brainer for companies, but especially in corporate america, they are blind to this and can give a rats-butt about it

lets hope ubid will do the right thing...

Ya, it is much better for the company in the long run as far as customer satisfaction, return buyers, and word of mouth referrerals. But in all honesty, when people are ordering 8-10 drives each, it's almost absurd. Almost abusing their good nature if they honor the price. That's why I thought the 1 drive per household would be a good compromise.

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
