It shows up on Hulu a day later. Now I know. I checked out and the answer is Yes, it was worth the wait.   The Kaylon are some butchers. Not to mention behaving exactly the same way they say their creators behaved.  Probably will see them again since a bunch of them headed out of the theater. But a decent two part-er .

"Identity Part 2" was one bad ass episode. The visuals were stunning for a TV show. That episode must have cost quite a bit considering all the CGI used.

Another pretty episode, both the galactic storyline and the series' character driven stories progressing nicely. Loved the tones of a classic dilemma story.

Spoiler

Keyali sure does get knocked the hell out a lot.

Still don't like the uniforms (I think I mention that every post in this thread, but it really is distracting. The plasticy shoulder pads... ugh)

Mercer's bit at the end, kinda impressive, like the writing.

Seth continues to prove he knows Trek inside out, and makes sure CBS regrets not letting him make his Trek show. :p

It's the sworn duty of every security chief in every fleet everywhere to get stunned at every possible opportunity.

I kinda like the uniforms.  Big improvement on the horrible jumpsuits the cast had to wear in TNG's first few seasons...

Some people seem to think Seth can't do live action. I think those people are... mistaken. :p

This reminds me of that TNG episode  with Riker's old Captain and ship (the one doing experiments on a cloaking device for the Federation). Also, I know Isaac was a big part of the last two episodes and all that good stuff - but he didn't even get a single line in this episode did he?!? BOO! :D

Glad Isaac didn't get any lines really.  Tired of that character and they need to develop other characters more.  I like Gordon and hope the develop LaMarr as well.  Also, I don't care for the Talla.  Liked Alara better.

I like Alara more as well, but I'm quite happy with Talla right now. She's hit her sweet spot as Alara's replacement so I'm ok with that for now. Plus depending on what you read online, a certain someone may be coming back for an episode or two sooner than most would have thought :D

And while I love Gordon I feel like LaMarr isn't very fleshed out yet. Gordon we've had a decent backstory so far (and he's best friends with Mercer so there's that also) but LaMarr is just the chief engineer and we basically know nothing about him outside of his job at this point (and that's he's a joke-y kinda guy and likes messing with people). So yeah, we could use some more backstory and world building with him (and Gordon since they are besties at this point in the show). I am actually glad that Bortus (I find spelling his name out...weird) hasn't had an episode dedicated to him and his husband in awhile. I love his character but not at the expense of the other characters (like say, a certain ball of snot) they seem to do often on the show. Oh and more Lt. Dan! :D

Agreed. Talla, I think is the maturity needed for that role and I think it works. And Gordon as it turns out you want on your side in a brawl. Good to see the crew could "knuckle-up" when necessary.

Yes! At first I figured Talla was just getting used to the ship and crew etc - but she seems way more serious and suited to a security chief now after a decent amount of episodes. Also she got shot trying to help Ty! (though I'm sure Alara would have done the same mind you) I still love it when the show is like OMGHEYSHESSUPERSTRONG GUYZ! :D

When Talla slung that troglodyte looking chick with the blue snot against the wall like a wet towel had me rollin. Talla has grown on me.

So according to some dude on Nerdrotic's livestream (who apparently has been accurate before on rumors) yesterday - The Orville has been renewed for a 3rd season with options for a 4th and 5th season. With a comic book, action figures (well kinda) and other stuff coming down the pike it seems unlikely The Orville will be cancelled for them to then release stuff like that after a cancellation. Its only a RUMOR, but if its true we are at least getting a 3rd season, so that's awesome. A 4th and 5th season would be amazing but those are only options on those from FOX. Let's not forget California is giving FOX a big tax incentive for doing the show there also.

Aren't all these Fox properties going to going to Disney in the long run?  I think the deal is done and only a matter of time anyways, with the only parts of FOX that Disney doesn't want is Fox News (because who does?) and a few other little things.

Anyways, I've caught up with the show now, the two parter was good.  It's kind of funny how close this is actually mirroring trek but with a some twists, Klon are the Borg of this show now, all machine who want to kill instead of assimilate.   Krill are the pale, hairless version of Klingons and so on.  I'm cool with it, I wonder how much of their budget they spent on that big space fight, it got pretty star warsy there, probably intentionally.

Not all FOX properties are going to Disney, though I think all TV and movie IP's are (I could be mistaken though on that one, its a bit murky still) such that Orville would technically be included in that deal I think. I think. I kinda do hope Disney owns it because then we might get an Orville movie down the line! Well, that's just wishful thinking at this point but hey you never know right? Maybe Disney will want their own Star Trek type of thing, considering they got this Star Wars thing on lock for now. :D

I watched all of season 1, but idk if i'll be returning to season 2. i dont feel that any of the story lines were that great. i wish it was funnier, too. idk - is season 2 worth watching? is it better than season 1?

Season 2 is less funny then 1 so if you're hoping for more laughs then maybe not. I personally liked season 1 better then 2 but I seem to be in the minority on that.

Currently I'd say I preferred season 1; Alara's replacement hasn't grown on me, More Yaphit / less Bortus, comedic moments were better handled that said the last three episodes have been some great writing and given the plot for this week I'm hoping the quality holds

Eh, it looks to be another Gordon-centric episode and I'm fine with that. Plus it looks like a total riff on all those TNG/DS9/VOY episodes where a crew member falls for someone or something only to find out its not what it seems or something sinister etc. And hey, they all can't be esplosion and space pew pew fests like Identity was (sup Egotastic Funtime!)
