^^^ was just thinking that myself when i read this post

and to slimy, if you think its unfair lets split mozilla and firefox in half.. we are looking at 87 votes each (at this moment in time) which means both would be beating IE by 30 votes (at this time)

Edit (spelling typo)

Safari. While I'm at it, I'll post my own input from a thread asking why people hate IE (which just recently closed).

I will now tell you about my frustrating personal experiences with the IE rendering engine. Okay, true story here. I've got this great design I'm about to post up, and I'm all pumped up. The site checks out in W3C for valid XHTML and valid CSS. I've tested it in Firefox and Safari, and they both display it beautifully. Thinking everything is fine, I go to my PC to check it in Internet Explorer, and what do I find? Damn thing butchered my whole design. For no reason at all, it felt like padding didn't matter, and decided to throw away any that I had in my sidebar, rendering my design totally useless.

Story #2 (this can be fixed, but it shouldn't have to be fixed anyway). I've got a design that requires all the elements to be the correct width, or else it'll start wrapping the page, layering elements, etc. Now true browsers should rendering a box model as follows (for this, let's assume the box should be 300px wide, with 5 px of padding on the left and right and a 1px border on the left and right edges):

300 + 5 + 5 + 1 + 1

In other words, if I want that box to actually be 300 pixels, I should do some math, subtracting 12 from 300. Well, IE decides to be different, and only because Microsoft felt like it. Here's how IE does it:

300 - 5 - 5 - 1 - 1

Seems like it would be easier, but unfortunately, as much as Microsoft would like to believe it, IE does not set the standards for CSS. So I have to use the Box Model Hack. The BMH little tidbit of CSS code that takes advantage of a little parsing fun-stuff to tell IE to have 300px as the box width while all other browsers should have 288px. Downside of this? Opera 5 has a problem with that Box Model Hack, so you have to add one more snippet of code in your style sheet just to fix that. Let me tell you, IE is a nightmare for CSS web-designers and XHTML coders.

i'm firefox user from version 0.6 and what i must say, is that firefox is getting W.O.R.S.E. after each release. they're last chance for them to fix everything, that is mind ****ing till version 1.0.

oh, did i mention, that this new theme totally sucks?

Okay, download Qute and stop complaining about Winstripe. :hmmm:

I've only seen more and more improvements coming from the Firefox team. I think 0.9 is a great release and for the record, I love both Pinstripe (the new one) and Winstripe.

I love the way Opera has all the browser windows within one - I tend to have up to 10 windows open at once and only Opera (or Netcaptor hahaha) can do with without clogging the taskbar.

mozilla and firefox both have tabbed browsing, which I think is what you are talking about :)

I have been a hardcore Firefox (Firebird, Phoenix, etc) user since it was 0.1 but the other day I downloaded and tried out Avant Browser for the first time ever. I have tried MyIE2 and didn't like it so I just assumed I wouldn't like Avant either. How wrong was I! I LOVE Avant! It is awesome. Yes it uses IE so still has some issues regarding security but I have tweaked my settings so it isn't as insecure. I still have Firefox installed just for surfing some of those "dodgy" sites :ninja:

There are 2 things I love about Avant more than anything else. These are a proxy list! My ISP (NTL) have several local proxies that I can use. I like to be able to switch if one of the proxies is a bit slow however before (in IE and Firefox) I had to go into the options and change it by deleting the old one and typing in a new one. Very annoying as I do this almost daily. With Avant I have a button on the taskbar and I can click it to get a menu of all the other proxies :woot: Genius idea! This is also great at work for using different proxies for different things, eg the US proxy to get to US areas on the network, the gigibit proxy for MSDN and the standard 100Mbit proxy for internet :)

The second thing is the tabs. I love the way it has an MDI instead of just tabs. It is great for side by side surfing. So nice when buying stuff online as it makes surfing several sites very easy as you can just press the "align vertical" button at the top and it does it for you however it does it in the Avant browser window unlike if you do this from the taskbar which makes it uses the whole screen!

Avant > Firefox IMO. Great bit of software and free!

    • Formatting would be awesome if fully customised and then roll out the settings as a company wide standard.
    • I just want to know why the volume control feature in the browser version keeps appearing then disappearing, here today - gone tomorrow. Now it's gone again. Annoying as hell.

    • This article does not make sense and it’s very evident, the bug wasn’t confirmed to exist, because the application itself runs on editions of Windows which make it impossible to run Hyper-V VMs on, “Basically, Claude Desktop on Windows spins up a 1.8GB Hyper-V virtual machine if you use Claude Cowork or agent mode even once.”, suggests the bug is caused by something else otherwise it would only happen to users with the capability of running Hyper-V VMs and that’s only if Hyper-V was enabled which is by default not enabled. The true issue is that the author who reported the bug used the incorrect terminology, it’s actually a container, not a VM that is being started by the way. There were users on macOS reporting the same issue, Hyper-V, doesn’t exist on that platform obviously. Every single user who confirmed the problem in the last week was either using macOS making this issue impossible to be relevant to them, or was a comment talking about WSL, which the author indicated 3 months ago was disabled.
    • “To prevent hallucination issues and keep the database clean, the platform uses a multi-agent verification loop to check code quality.” - This absolutely isn’t happening. ”Before the massive rise of LLMs, which tanked its traffic by about 50% over the last couple of years, Stack Overflow was the go-to website for millions of programmers seeking coding solutions.” - It still is trusted, because the community of users, blocked other users from submitting false and misleading answers generated by AI agents that can be convinced something it generated is actually incorrect even if it’s actually correct. The company itself doesn’t know what it wants to be so it keeps trying and failing to introduce AI features to the platform. This effort will also fail, already submitted one successful poison pill, look forward to generating more.
