Gemini ups its learning game with new interactive diagrams for science

If you use the Gemini AI chatbot for study, it now supports clickable, interactive images for different topics. Here's how to generate them.

There are many reasons people use AI chatbots like Gemini and ChatGPT, and one of them is to learn science. Google has added a new feature to the Gemini app that improves the learning experience for students who use the chatbot to understand science and math concepts.

The search giant has added support for interactive images that help students explore complex academic concepts visually. Unlike static text and images, students can engage with the interactive science images and diagrams by clicking on different parts.

For instance, students can click specific parts of the digestive system or a cell to open an interactive panel, which offers detailed explanations, definitions, and more content to explore. They can type prompts like, "What are the parts of a plant cell?" or "What are the different parts of a combustion engine?"

Once an image and related explanation are generated, they can click the "Explore" button to open the interactive user interface. The feature allows students to learn more about various sub-topics and ask follow-up questions.

This adds to the learning features already offered by the generative AI chatbot, such as the ability to generate flashcards, practice quizzes, and create custom study plans.

"By being able to interact with images, Gemini is transforming studying from passive viewing into active exploration," Google said. Gemini can generate interactive images across subjects such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Speaking of images, Google has also updated its generative AI chatbot to detect whether an uploaded image is AI-generated. It has added support for Google's latest image generation model, Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image), which leverages reasoning and real-world knowledge to generate images that are more accurate than ever before.

Google recently updated the Gemini app with its flagship Gemini 3 Pro model that topped the LMArena Leaderboard with a record 1501 Elo score, surpassing OpenAI's GPT 5.1 and Claude Sonnet 4.5.
