LG has announced that it is expanding its lineup of gaming experiences for its LG Gaming Portal. The expansion sees the portal offer over 4,000 cloud-based and 600 casual titles directly on webOS-powered smart TVs without the need for consoles.
One of the new games includes Just Dance Now, which is available in the US, Australia, Sweden, and Norway, with an expansion into Europe soon. It uses the LG Magic Remote’s motion sensors to track dance routines. Another title arriving is Asphalt Legends Unite, a free-to-play arcade racer (US only) accessible via remote directional keys.
The expansion also includes a partnership with Volley AI Games which brings several voice-controlled titles like Jeopardy! and Song Quiz to the US. Another game is My Little Puppy, a narrative adventure from Krafton and Blacknut, featuring emotional storytelling and vivid graphics.
There are also two games included from LG’s webOS Hackathon, these are Grand Prize winner Quest of Sunflower (AI-generated storytelling) and Signs of Magic, which uses the Magic Remote as a wand to cast spells.
LG gives you several control options to play the games. The Korean company has launched a new app, LG Mobile Gamepad Wi-Fi, for Android and iOS that allows your phone to function as the game controller via Wi-Fi. Alternatively, your Magic Remote will work as a controller, leveraging gyroscopic and motion-sensing technology for gesture-based gameplay. If you’re a casual gamer, this could remove your need for a games console as everything works on the TV.
To play these games, your LG Smart TV and monitors need to be running webOS 6.0 or higher. The Gaming Portal is available in 35 countries, including the US, Canada, Korea, and various European and Latin American markets.
