Sony just held a PlayStation State of Play showcase, but one major first-party release that was absent was Marvel's Wolverine. Now, out of nowhere, the company has attached a release date to the Insomniac-developed project with a simple social media post.
Marvel's Wolverine will be releasing on September 15, 2026, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Fans can wishlist the title now on the official store page by heading here.
Wolverine was announced alongside Spider-Man 2 back in 2021, revealing Insomniac as the developer for the action title featuring the iconic X-Men hero. Unlike in the Spider-Man games though, despite being in the same universe, violence will be turned up to 11 here. The campaign will be taking players to "the island nation of Madripoor, the frosted wilderness of Canada, and the narrow city streets of Tokyo," for a globetrotting adventure.
"As he searches for answers about his past, Wolverine will do whatever it takes – unleashing brutal claw combat, violent rage, and relentless determination – to cut through the mystery of the man he used to be," reads the description from Insomniac.

Insomniac has confirmed before that it is building the combat to be fast, fluid, and ferocious with plenty of action set pieces that have Logan laying waste to his enemies. It's more of a third-person hack and slash title compared to the open-world Spider-Man titles. It's said that there will still be a heroism element to all the carnage. Actor Liam McIntyre is portraying Wolverine in the game.
Logan won't be the only Marvel Mutant that will appear in the storyline, with Mystique and Omega Red already confirmed for the campaign. Insomniac's version of Spider-Man has a very good chance of making an appearance too, perhaps to give Wolverine a hand or maybe even hold him back.
