Ubisoft delivers Rainbow Six Vegas-inspired map to Siege alongside major ranked rework

Rainbow Six Siege's second season of 2026 is bringing a reworked Dokkaebi, the Calypso Casino map, and a more next month.

Ubisoft is well into the eleventh year of providing support for Rainbow Six Siege, and now, it's almost time for the year's second season of content to drop. Announced today at the game's Salt Lake City Major esports event, the Operation System Override update is bringing in an operator rework to a classic character, a fresh map, major gameplay updates to ranked play, and much more.

Instead of releasing a new operator, Dokkaebi is being reworked in this update. Her phoning the enemy team ability can only target individual operators now. However, if they don't pick up and disable the timer in time, the phone will detonate, damaging the character and rendering their phone useless. This means no more observation tools for the rest of the round and also removes the use of any gadgets they might need to access from the phone.

Dokkaebi can still hack phones for camera controls, but only for a short time. Moreover, she is receiving the XK23 assault rifle as a primary option for short-to-medium-range gunfights.

Next, inspired by a Rainbow Six Vegas classic map, Calypso Casino is landing as a brand-new arena.

"While staying true to the essence of the original map, it’s been thoughtfully enhanced to meet Siege’s competitive standards," says the development team. "With a new crane for rooftop access, a basement spawn for scaling up the casino façade, and an expanded drone vent network to navigate, verticality opens entirely new routes, strategies, and counterplay options."

Among all the updates is one massive one to the ranked system of Rainbow Six Siege. Being the most popular matchmaking playlist in the game, the overhaul is aimed at improving competitive integrity and player progression, all based on player feedback, according to Ubisoft.

These changes include removing the hidden MMR (Matchmaking Rating) system and displaying the numbers publicly via the rank, placement matches at the beginning of each season, cosmetic and premium currency rewards for simply playing ranked games, and squad restrictions to limit massive rank disparities in games.

Other changes in this season include weekly rotating operators for the game's trial version, balance updates for multiple operators, as well as more modernizations and visual enhancements to the maps Emerald Plains and Kanal. The planned launch of official mouse and keyboard support on consoles will arrive as a mid-season update, with users being put into the PC pool of matchmaking.

Rainbow Six Siege Year 11 Season 2

Rainbow Six Siege Year 11 Season 2 Operation System Override will be releasing on June 2 for all players. Ahead of that, Ubisoft is planning to launch it on the test server starting on May 18 to iron out any bugs that it might have.
