Microsoft has already refreshed the business side of its Surface device family, and now consumer-focused variants are on the horizon. While the new Surface for Business computers rock Intel's new Core Ultra 300 processors and the all-new Surface Laptop Ultra boasts NVIDIA's new Spark processor, the next-generation Surface Pro is about to ship with a Snapdragon X2 chip inside. Details about this computer have now been leaked.

According to the promo materials leaked by a retailer and published by WinFuture, the next Surface Pro will come with a 13-inch OLED display, dropping the LCD variant. The tablet will be powered by a 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite processor paired with a new Neural Processing Unit operating at up to 80 TOPS. For reference, the current Snapdragon X1 lineup has NPUs running at 45 TOPS. An OLED display and an energy-efficient chip should allow the new Surface Pro to work for up to 15.5 hours on a single charge (video playback).

As for memory and storage, expect to see 16GB or 32GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage. As usual, the drive (PCIe Gen4 SSD) will be removable and user-replaceable. Additionally, Microsoft is giving its new tablet two USB4 Type-C ports for charging, data transfer, and display output (up to three external monitors), while color options include Black, Platinum, and Dune with matching Alcantara keyboards. Overall, the design appears to be unchanged, so do not expect major revelations on the exterior.

There is no information about the price, but rumors say that the computer will be announced later this month, so the wait is nearly over (for reference, the previous-gen Surface Pro was announced two years ago). Alongside the new Surface Pro, Microsoft is expected to reveal a new Surface Laptop with the same Snapdragon X2 processor.
