Valve has published the June 2026 Steam Hardware & Software Survey, and most of the trends from the previous months keep moving in the same direction.

Windows 11 keeps chipping away at whatever's left of Windows 10's user base. The newer OS now sits at 70.44%, up 0.68 points from May. Windows 10 keeps sliding down, as it now sits at 23.56%, which is a 0.43% decline compared to the previous month. Windows 7 refuses to give up, as 0.07% of Steam users still use Microsoft’s legacy operating system.

Windows as a whole holds 94.10% of the Steam userbase. macOS actually gained ground this month, climbing to 2.21%, while Linux slipped slightly to 3.69%. SteamOS Holo remains the most-used Linux flavor at 0.84%, just ahead of CachyOS.

Hardware trends barely moved. 16GB of RAM is still the standard at 41.57% of systems, and 1920x1080 continues to be the resolution of choice for just over half of all users, though 2560x1440 keeps creeping up behind it.

On the GPU side, the RTX 4060 Laptop GPU overtook the RTX 3060 to become the single most common card this month, climbing to 3.81% while the RTX 3060 slipped to 3.73%. Given that we're in the middle of a severe hardware market crisis, it's no surprise that the biggest chunk of users still rocks 8GB of VRAM. But to be fair, 16GB is catching up at 24.50%, up 0.45% from last month.

Intel and AMD continue their fight for the most dominant CPU vendor. Right now, Intel holds 54.01% of the share, while AMD sits at 45.99%. However, the gap has been slowly narrowing over the past year and a half. Back in January 2025, Intel commanded 68.8%, meaning AMD has clawed back nearly 14 points since then.
