Dude, What is this oozing out of my wall?

is it soft?

are you sure it's organic

cuz it kinda looks like spray foam insulation

used somewhat in old houses...they spray it in to tight areas to seal them up

i say you call a pro. dont touch it at all. it could be poisonous. its probably smart if you move in with a hot girl too. or at least take showers at her place.

Noooo it isn't foam insulation! I don't think there's any of that in this house. I think I'll go take a wiff of it... Ok, I also just dug some of it off with a spoon. It smells simlar to mushrooms! :x :x Blech.

Kinda looks like that fiberglass insulation stuff thats in the walls. And by the looks of it its wet which means water got back there and its starting to rot, you may have quite a big probem on your hands :(.

It doesn't matter what it "looks" like. Problem is that harmless stuff could also have fungus. Fungus can cause serious health problems. Have it check out by a specialist.

Don't eat it or smell it. And no you don't have aliens in your house.

yeah have someone look at it

actaully most home inspection companies could probably give you a good idea over the phone, they'll probably still want to have a look at it.

here is the epa's site on mold

EPA.GOV

since you are renting, assuming you have a lease this would be the responsibility of your landlord

i work for a Real estate company and mold is a huge issue these days so i would def talk to the landlord or who ever is in charge of the property

looking at it wouldn't worry, the part of mold that are toxic are the spors and honestly it's usually extended close proximity expsore that cause problems. the problems can be escalated in infants or people with respitory problems

if anyone in the house has started to develop asthema or allergy like symptoms though i'd worry

good luck

personally i think you should try smoking itt

Thanks digitalslacker, unfortunately, I don't think the landlords care enough about the house. I think they are going to rent the house as long as possible and then bulldoze it. I'm hoping it's dry rot as that wouln't be a danger to me... So far I have had no reactions that I know of. If its dry rot, I really don't care this house needs to be done away with anyway!

omg u newb that is just a lot of melted marshmellow. It's safe to eat, I eat that kind of stuff all the time just seeps throughout my whole house, specially in the basement... hmm maybe that's why I'm always pale and vomiting 5-9 times a day... nah must've been the nacho cheese I ate that I found under my staircase and was half green and was covered in spiderwebs...
