Actually, no it didnt.. lol. I created a new HD image using fsutil (as i've described earlier), and looked at it in a text editor. Luckly the editor I used showed "null characters", and turns out thats all the image is ;-). So its a nice 5-7 line loop, and viola, image file created :-).

In other news, besides me feelign sick, my mother just went to the hospital with heart attack symptoms

I think I'm going to work a little harder now, just so I can stay up and wait for some answers. Who knows, there might be a build in a few hours :-).

So I got my hands on a copy of panther and im trying to install it. It failed as an upgrade so I loaded the installer and use the disk utility to wipe the drive image and its installing. My question is is this, I know that panther seems to take a bit of time to install on x86 systems, but out of the all the people that were able to get it in, how many of you saw time frame's like 4 hours?? and did it actualy need that full 4 hours?? thanks in advance.

Thankfully my mother is alright. She didn't suffer a heart attack: she had some misbeats that screwed many things up. She is now recovering, and is exepcted to even go to work this week :-0.

I ran into a little snag creating images... I was testing out using small sizes (1kb, 10kb, etc), and turns out when I tried making a 1gb image it was to much for a 32-bit Integer :-P. Took me like 10 minutes, but I just figured it all out (mega nested for loops :-).. four nested for loops!). Tomorrow you guys will get a screenie of the first (Work-in-progress) wizard ;-). Oh yeah, and you'll get Beta 1 ;-).

what upgrade?

Loaded the panther CD up after installing 10.1. i would have installed 10.3 right away, but i didnt have it until today. so when it gave me the choice to upgrade instead of stead of doing a whole install, i jumped at the chance. i read about the 4 and 5 hour install times and i just didnt want to deal with that. well the upgrade failed at the end. i came back from my evening coffee run and see "some errors occured during the install" or whatever it said. so now im doing a full install of 10.3 and waiting eagerly for it to install correctly.

I have experienced a similar problem (identical problem), however with a clean installation of 10.3. It always fails to install (cleanly after performing a format/erase, using Mac OS X extended (Journaled)). I wonder what this problem is, because I have tried about six times now to install 10.3 - all resulting in "There were errors during installation. Please try installing again" (or something similar, see my post a few pages back). :o

Well the good news is that after a clean install i now get the message that states "your software was installed successfully." this made me extatic, but when i load ppc up, i just an exception error in the dos window and the os doesnt boot. new challange to deal with i guess.

Fullscreen toggle (F12)

Mousegrab (SHIFT+ F9)

Change redraw timings on the fly (F10 -1msec; F11 +1msec)

Could you PLEASE select other function keys for this?

F9-F11 are by default used in Panther for Expose, and on iBooks some people (including me) use F12 as Eject.

I would suggest F5-F8, which I have never seen used in Mac OS (7.1-10.3).

Another topic: for those who are experimenting with 10.1 and networking. There is a driver for the RTL8139 for use with 10.1 on realtek's website. I used this driver to get 10.1 to work with a second NIC installed in a PowerMac 7600 (no, that is not a configuration supported by Apple...). Talking about slow configurations...

So, even if 10.1 does not support the 8139 out of the box, it might be possible to get networking to work. Just keep in mind that 10.1 is SLOWWWWW compared to 10.3.

Then change your Expose keys :p

Also, could someone clarify how to share files between Mac and Windows? I thought I had it setup right...but it still doesn't work. Here's what I did:

OSX

Set password on admin account (bradleyc)

Change computer name to PearSMB, reboot

Drop an alias to another folder into Public

Windows:

Start, Run, \\PearSMB.inet (I run a freesco box: the domain is 'inet')

Receive password prompt, enter "bradleyc/*******" (user/pass)

Window for OSX opens, revealing one folder: "BradleyC"

Double-click, nothing happens for 60 seconds; BONG! computer is not responding, moron!!

So now what do I do?

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
