Playing around with a design

Well, I'll be getting home at around 10:30 tonight (EST) and when I get home, I'll work all night and get something put together. We don't have to use it, but it will give you guys an idea about what's going through my head about this whole thing.

I don't know if flash would be the best thing. Flash makes some cool effects, but I would rather have it load fast, and be all code.

http://www.americasarmy.com look at their front page its all in flash and its really nice how the news and stats are delivered.

I love this layout, but I say we dump the 'File Database' link and replace it with a link to the forums, because no one hardly ever updates the filedb.

I like xstaindx's concept of the tabs sliding in and out, i think thats the way it should be done. However, i think it might be best trying to do it in java / script, rather than flash, if possible.

its ever so nice but ever so easy to knock together in photoshop! Ever so hard to put on the front page, get it working in all browsers... :p

On the american army website, i like how there is a countdown for each set of stats and maybe somthing like that could be implemented into the headlines section, but i really like the design!

Now thats nice. Although I don't think the font you chose really fits. I know its the Longhorn font, but I really don't think it works.

I agree. I don't think they were trying to take credit for it, just showing what they thought should be changed.

I don't agree on a totally new logo, I think we need to keep the N since we've had it and everyone knows it. Maybe mod it from what it is now yeah.

The tabs are only for different sections of the site, the forums/forum posts are different from sections, so they are placed below, which I think is quite appropriate.
