Hey Long, what do you think of this? Mind you, I'm not a graphics expert, but I thought it would be cool to put the whole news article in it's own little box, and not just the title of the article. The colors aren't all filled in correctly because I just used Paint :p But you get the idea (Y)

Also, I was thinking, for the gamer's news, maybe we could fit an Xbox, a PS2, and a Gamecube up there? Or would that be too much for one button?

Okay, I understand your idea but it removes the effect of "cleaness" IMO. I did a little test to show you a comparison. I wanted to keep a clean and professional feeling to it, and surrounding everything by a border made it feel too "messy", yes I know it contradicts the meaning of borders :p

I see what you're saying, but I think the top example looks better because it makes the whole news article seem like its own "item", whereas the bottom example kinda makes the title seem like one "item" on the page, and the actual article looks like just another part of the page... Does this make any sense?

Actually, Long's works better because of the visual flow. Containing the title in a separate box from the content breaks the two up and there's a discontinuity between the the post and it's title. For all I know, from the perspective of a new visitor, that title box could be clicked to lead to the contents of the post itself. There's no visual indication to suggest to the two are connected. As a result, Long's works better because the post itself is no longer placed in a similar context as the title area. The title is highlighted to stand out, as any good title should be. Wrapping both sections in a box highlights each equally, which provides some visual confusion of purpose.

I never said have two boxes! :o Look at my original concept; I combined the boxes into one, or rather made the article an extension of the title... I never said they should be seperate boxes :p

Oh right, I see. Well, confining every piece of information box may be neat, but then it is not very visually appealing I think

i too was thinking of gameguy's style...

but after seeing it, having everything in it's own border makes the topic seem seperated from the content.

i like long's out of the two displayed.

maybe trying putting one border around the whole title and topic (with a gradient between the two even)? :)
