Is there any way to configure a button to show / hide the browser panels?

Yeah. Go into the 'Layout' thing in Columns UI preferences, and create a new layout that's exactly like the one you're using there except without the browser panels. Then set your buttons (i don't know if you mean a UI button or a keyboard button, but it's the same concept either way) to switch between the two layouts. You'll see the command under the View > Layout menu in foobar (and also in the 'Keyboard Shortcuts' preferences).

Also, is there an option for the browser panels to sort by directory structure?

Use %path% or %directoryname% i guess?

When I do that, my foobar becomes utterly unresponsive and sluggish when scrolling and resizing, until I restart it :/

By the way... Is it just me, or is the singlecolumns playlist rather dysfunctional?

No selected items highlights... Only the currently playing one... First row not visible on startup (have to scroll up a line)...Or can those be fixed?

Searching for a good ColumnsUI .fcb, or a good (all options as Columns) single column, fitting my style :)

Album art included in the playlist is a big ++ :)

When using the button, you mean? No idea. I don't seem to have that problem. You might report it to musicmusic, maybe he can do something about it.

I think there might be an alternative, though (i'm not positive because i've never tried it but it seems theoretically possible): Get the tab component, and then put the browser lay-out under one tab and the non-browser lay-out under the other one. You should be able to switch between the two like that. I think.

Selected item highlights just fine for me. I know what you mean about the other thing, but it doesn't really bother me.

hey guys.. i need some help. I'm finally getting foobar up and running correctly on vista but i seem to have lost my playlist switcher code and i have no idea how to edit it. What i want to do is show how many tracks are in each playlist on the right side, and when i double click a single mp3 file i want it to open in a default playlist, and not overwrite whatever playlist is currently selected..

can anyone direct me in the right way... or give me a link to where i can find some nice playlist switcher codes.

Wow :| ! Care to share how you made it look like that?

I used moglenstar's guide on http://moglenstar.net/archives/my-foobar-setup.

The modified trackinfo .pngs are on comments #91+

The buttons are generic tango 16x16... found them on http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....=35270&st=0

The bottom is just your generic unedited ColumnsUI...

I am currently using a newer version based on spex's amazing config :)

I used to use

%title%$tab()'('%length%')' %size% Songs

It might help you. The rest is probably in the ColumnsUI Wiki.

thanks.. that worked. I checked the wiki as well but couldn't find much that was useful to me.

Does anyone happen to know how you make a new song go to a default playlist rather than overwrite the one that is currently selected?

here you go Apel.. it was posted back on pg 370 or something..

there is no trackinfo code in the above post, it's all part of the group info in the single columns ui.

    • Close, but it is for any application starting, not just during boot time. In fact, it probably will not improve boot time at all because during a boot, the CPU is already boosting, so a pre-boost wouldn't change anything. I agree that it isn't exciting (especially considering every other OS already does it), but it is a good thing, even if they are just playing catch up.
    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.
