for those who havent read the books: halo history:

EARLY CONFLICTS This period in human history is characterized by a series of

wars between various governments and factions in our Solar System. Conflicts

of particular historical importance include the Jovian Moon Campaign, The

Rain Forest Wars, and a series of clashes on Mars.

2164: INTERPLANETARY WAR

UN-sponsored military forces begin a pattern of massive buildups,

culminating in the first real interplanetary war. After the successful

Marine deployment on Mars, recruitment drives and propaganda tactics

strongly bolster UNSC (UN Space Command) forces. UN forces defeat Koslovic

(supporters of rabid Communist hard-liner Vladimir Koslov) and Frieden (a

resurgence of fascism) forces on Earth, then begin a systematic and

dedicated drive to crush their remnants on the various planets they hold

throughout the system. At the conclusion, Frieden and Koslovic forces are

defeated, in the face of a massive, unified and very powerful UN military.

2170: EXPANSION

The next 120 years is characterized by a period of restructuring as a

unified Earth government is formed. Now, the victors must deal with a

less-obvious, but equally serious threat: overpopulation and a massive

military with no enemy to fight. In the postwar period, there are massive

population surges and the overpopulation, coupled with the destruction and

famine bred by the Rain Forest Wars, becomes threatening.

2291: FASTER THAN LIGHT

A secret team of researchers, physicists and mathematicians develop the

Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engine, a practical means of propelling spacecraft

across vast interstellar distances.

2310: FIRST WAVE

The Earth government unveils the first in a line of colony ships; given

conditions on Earth are deteriorating in the face of overpopulation,

hitching a ride out to a colony becomes a highly attractive option.

Additionally, the Earth government plans to attach military personnel to

each colony, to help better utilize the massive (and expensive) standing

fleets.

Because FTL travel is still fairly new and expensive, colonists and military

personnel face a stringent regimen of physical and mental testing. In

theory, only the best-qualified citizens and soldiers are allowed to

colonize "nearby" worlds. This is the birth of the Inner Colonies; typically

Inner Colonials are-later in the timeline-considered the elite, the best and

brightest.

2362: THE ODYSSEY

The Odyssey is launched January 1, 2362. The lead ship in the colony

vessels, the Odyssey-laden with troops and terra forming gear-spearheads the

colonization of a new world. This sparks the first wave of human

colonization.

2390: INNER COLONIES

Colonization of the Inner Colonies is fully underway with 210 human-occupied

worlds in various stages of terra forming.

2490: THE BIRTH OF THE OUTER COLONIES

Expansion continues at a rapid pace, and by 2490 human space encompasses

800+ worlds throughout the Orion Arm of the Milky Way (ranging from fairly

well-tamed planetary strongholds to tiny hinterland settlements). Outward

expansion continues, and the Inner Colonies become a political and economic

stronghold, though they rely heavily on raw materials supplied by the Outer

Colonies.

During this period, the planet Reach (orbiting Epsilon Eridani, literally on

Earth's front porch) becomes the primary Naval yard, a major producer of

warships and colony vessels, as well as a training ground for covert

operatives and Special Forces.

2530: THE COVENANT WAR BEGINS

On April 3, 2530, contact with the Outer Colony, Harvest, is lost. After

failing to re-establish contact with Harvest, the Colonial Military

Administration sends a scout ship, the Argo, to investigate. Contact with

Argo is subsequently lost after arriving in the Harvest system.

The CMA dispatches a battle group to Harvest, consisting of three warships.

The lead ship in the battle group, the Heracles, returns to Reach, badly

damaged and with heavy casualties. The ship's commander reports that an

alien warship with powerful weaponry was present, and had decimated Harvest,

exterminating the colonists (and presumably destroying the Argo). The battle

group engaged the alien warship, and was thoroughly routed. The

Heracles-following the destruction of the other two ships in the

group-jumped out of the system, but due to the damage she had sustained,

took several weeks to make it back to Reach.

The Earth military goes on full alert, and begins making preparations to

move in and retake Harvest. By December, a massive Earth war fleet under

Vice Admiral Preston Cole mobilizes, one of the fastest such mobilizations

of such a large fleet in the history of humankind.

2531: THE BATTLE OF HARVEST

Cole's war fleet engages the alien warship responsible for the decimation of

the colony, scoring a victory (though the battle cost Cole two-thirds of his

battle group). Only a last minute tactical inspiration turned the tide of

battle.

After returning to Earth, Cole-promoted to Admiral-learns that a number of

outlying colonies have been destroyed, leaving behind no survivors. Cole

begins to move his fleet around, trying to intercept the invaders. Ground

and ship-to-ship battles begin in earnest, raging throughout the Outer

Colonies. During one ground engagement, Human forces capture one of the

aliens. Before succumbing to his wounds, interrogators learn that the aliens

refer to themselves as "the Covenant" (roughly translated).

2535: THE OUTER COLONY MASSACRED

In the course of four short years, Cole's forces are hammered, despite his

excellent leadership and tactical brilliance. It is simply a matter of being

outgunned; Covenant kill ratios tend to top four to one in ship-to-ship

combat.

By 2535, virtually all of the Outer Colony worlds have been destroyed by the

Covenant. The "Cole Protocol" is established by military order: all human

vessels must ensure that Covenant forces do not find Earth. Human ships

must-when forced to withdraw-not move on to an Earth bound vector, even if

that means jumping without proper navigational calculations. If blind jumps

are not possible, the ship's captain must order self-destruction if capture

is imminent. In addition, it is also imperative that the powerful ship A.I.

data cores not fall into Covenant hands, so part of this protocol involves

either the removal or destruction of the ship's A.I. in extreme situations.

2536: THE SIEGE OF THE INNER COLONIES

Covenant forces begin to swarm into the Inner Colonies. For several years

the war falls into a pattern: humans win isolated battles, typically during

ground operations, but at a horrible cost. In space combat, the humans are

losing at a precipitous rate, and one by one, the colonies fall.

2552 AND BEYOND: HALO

Covenant forces arrive at Reach and obliterate the colony. You (Master

Chief) escape aboard the cruiser Pillar of Autumn and are the only survivor

of your team.

In accordance with the Cole Protocol, the Pillar of Autumn's captain plots a

random, long-distance jump, hoping to lure the Covenant fleet-dangerously

near Earth-away from the human homeworld.

After deactivating the drive, the Pillar of Autumn drops into a distant,

uncharted system. There is a Covenant fleet in the system as well, near a

planet-sized ring-shaped construct, Halo. A brief-and lopsided-battle ensues

and the Pillar of Autumn is severely damaged. An escape craft containing the

surviving humans crashes on the mysterious alien construct.

I found this on the Official XBOX forums

In order for me to explain on how I cracked the code, I must first give you a history lesson...

If you remember the Library in Halo 1, there is a room with the word (in foriegn language) I love honey...

Connecting this with I love bees, I checked out the I Love Bees source, and found a disturbing quote... which said...Mr and Mrs C. are unhappy with you. I then traced this to one of Bungies old games that was never released titled... Sam the Snapping Turtle.

While on the 3rd level you run into an owl named MR C (Covenant) Mr C has a wife named MRS C, they also have a dog named Fluffy GS (Guilty Spark) Williams... Mrs C will ask you to get rid of the FLOOD of bugs in her kitchen. While in the kitchen you see a cookie jar in the shape of an angel with a HALO.

While looking at it it blows up and out pours the FLOOD of bugs. Mr and Mrs C and Fluffy GS Williams were so mad you failed that they attack you along with the FLOOD of bugs.

Now kitchen or K'itcihen is HUNTER for EARTH... Putting this all together I made this conclusion that MASTER CHEIF will battle the covenent, guilty spark, and the flood on earth (you will be playing Halo 2) on the same date Sam the Snapping Turtle was suppost to be released...AUGUST 24TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ladies...Gentlemen...Gamers...RIDDLE SOLVED!!!!!!!

Ben :s

Thats good work, but i have another theory.

I talked with an ubisoft developer and he said that a Special Edition Halo package ws being released on the 24th, its set to include 2 discs, on the game and the other a 2 hour documentary on the making of HALO 2.

ok, some more curious information....

if you go to www.ihatebees.com it is just the countdown for the ilovebees.com website. now the interesting thing here is that ihatebees.com is just a redirect to a website located at http://station6.org/projects/ihatebees.com/. when you look at the source code for the website there, there is an email address to the webmaster of ihatebees.com and ive already emailed that address and i am awaiting a response. i also emailed the owner of station6.org and asked them what this is all about. in the source code for this site there is also a line that says this.

<META NAME="description" CONTENT="I hate bees... in my dream, Frankie's bees took my world from me">
i dont know what that means though

also, the class name for the code for this site is "dana_big" so there is more references to dana, even in the source code.

also, here are the key words for the site...

<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="honey, bees, Margaret, small busines, beekeeping,

hives, retail, market, Operator, bug, buggy, virus, infestation, WTF is

going on with this damn thing, parasite, strong intrusive inclination, medium,

messages, shipwreck, network throttling, SOS, hoax, game, bee hoax, bee game,

survivor, survive, evade, resist, escape, a little help would be appreciated,

thanks and tip your waitress, sleep, is, good, install, reinstall,

re-reinstall, re-re-reinstall, I, hate, bees">

i dunno what all of this means... all i can do is get clues... i dont know what they all mean. i will post here when i have hear from the owners of the two sites.

Jive, I think the mention of Frankie confirms ihatebees as being a fan-made site :(

Frank O'Connor is a guy that works for Bungie. He's the one who writes up the weekly Halo 2 updates and graces us with his 1337 drawing skillz.

A lot of people seem to like him because of his sense of humor. I think "Frankie's bees" was just a wild guess from a fan that Frank is the one who made the website. If that's the case, I'm inclined to disagree.

This isn't a one-person job.

As a side note, does anyone know if "Efendi" means anything? Is it a word from a legend or something? When I looked up its meaning all I found was that it's the title for a man in Turkey. In the WHOIS information, Margaret's last name is Efendi. I think the connection between Cortana and Dana has already been established, but maybe this is something new?

Margaret's sister's name is Chloe. I haven't been able to connect that to anything.

If you remember the Library in Halo 1, there is a room with the word (in foriegn language) I love honey...

I'm thinking that entire thing was made up :hmmm:

I looked up "Sam the Snapping Turtle" and didn't find anything remotely linked to Bungie. And also, since when is "I love honey" a single word? And when does it show up in the Library?

Besides, the date's been named. It was tatooed on the arm of the guy who unveiled it, remember? I don't think they'd change their minds now...

Found a quote on The Hives page.

bullets into me, all the Spider knows is her checkdown routines, her reflex arcs. She doesn't understand we have to kill the Assassin first and worry about reconstruction later.

If I could just get

Haven't seen that one before. Now we know that the Spider is really primitive, and that whatever (whoever?) she's working on is trying to destroy "The Assasin". I take "the Assassin" and "the Killer" to be the same person- Dana. She tried to get rid of the "presence" that had invaded her systems, and now they're trying to get her back, at least to stop her.

Killer.jpg is evidence that can support that theory.

Then again, Assassin might be different from Killer. Assassins are usually quiet, right? So maybe that might qualify as the Pious Flea...

Hmmm...

Does that mean that the Spider has an ally besides whatever summoned it? Maybe what I thought was Cortana was really something else. Or maybe I was assuming that too many messages had come from her.

Maybe it's one of her copies.

(Whoever says Halo's story doesn't match up to other games... obviously hasn't payed much attention to this).

Another thing to point out is that the countdown does not render in FireFox. This may indicate that it was coded specifically for IE. IE is made by microsoft.

Microsoft made the site.

:p

I noticed that as well.

A lot of things are made for IE, though. That's why not all browsers show things correctly, right? Some sites are optimized for certain browsers?

Bungie is a Microsoft company. Would that mean they'd have to make the site specifically for IE?

Unless this isn't from either...

Umm...

Maybe I just don't see it, but what would that have to do with ilovebees?

That "unexpected halt" was Jenkins being infected by a Flood form. His nerve signals were taken over, and the camera stopped recording.

I think it might've been because it was a neural chip, and after his brain had been taken over, the chip had stopped, assuming its owner was dead.

It explains it in the books. Jenkins wasn't an average Flood.

I doubt this is involved.

There are TONS of stuff inthe images, here's what i've got so far:
