.Kompressor
just got this off the XP SP2 newsgroups about the MD5 Hash: Posted by a MS employee moding the newsgroup: someone posted this Hash # 59a98f181fe383907e520a391d75b5a7and got this reply:The MD5 hash is not relevant since we have not released the final RTM of SP2 to the general public. If you wait to download it from the public Microsoft site once we release it, you will assured of getting the final real SP2 product. -- Regards, Mike -- Mike Brannigan [Microsoft]
Moren
I would say that was build 2158loser - the final build is supposed to be 266.01mb - that one is listes as 271.1mb because it isn't one file, but instead its a multipart rar archive. I had 2162 from this group so i think its not a fake one...
stockwiz
From what I've read, all files ending in RTM_EMU.exe are fakes.
sdfosdigjdoigdj
Ok.... Here's the deal... Unless your file is EXACTLY 266.01MB, and is signed/verified, it is FAKE. Other files, that are going round on these forums are just from some ****ty little chinese site, where some sad **** has just modified 2162 to make it appear as 2180. IT'S A FAKE,,, the only real one is the 266.01MB Signed file which has originated from Microsoft WindowsBeta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Schumi4ever
Perhaps MS hasnt released it to the public yet so we all start downloading it via bittorrent which will save ms some valuable bandwidth :p
L3thal Veteran Posted August 6, 2004 Veteran Share Posted August 6, 2004 ^Actually, that is a great hypothesis. I can already see it, "Hey, lets just not give the public the ability to download it from us, so they can download improper versions from BitTorrent and they can also download ones which contain viruses and are RC2 versions" Nice try, but Microsoft has enough bandwidth for all of us, or maybe not :shifty:

SuperJediMedia
I will NOT download from Bittorrent for this... it is Critical System files, too dangeous. You people risk TOO MUCH for just a Service Pack. :p I Want it, but I will wait until MS officially hosts it.
