About that $100,000 fine,

Knowing how big Msoft is they will probably realease a hidden file in one of the Updates posted On Automatic Updates  :ninja:  That contains a tracking device which scans for computer info and whether this dl has been accessed.

Besides who will the judge take sides with us the home computer user or Msoft the biggest os company in the world/universe/milkyway  :huh:

To be honest I hope they do come after everyone that does have a illegal copy. I was hoping to start my own game development company next year and i also work in retail and it @#&king $#*ts me that people come into my store and say that getting burnt games to save money is any justificaton for doing this. If i ever found someone with a burnt copy of a game that i made and spent countless hours,days, months making, for "Backup" purposes or not I will take them to the cleaners and even if I can't win the case, i would keep them in court long enough to send them broke. But I guess that is mean being very Sadistic in a way.

Oh well. I guess that is why there is no Black and White with any issuse there is always shades of grey.......

My question is, how the HELL did it get leaked in the first place? One would assume that there would be SOME sort of security around the production facility of the game to prevent this sort of thing from happening.

Ah well. I don't have a modded Xbox, but I wouldn't download it even if I did.

BUT i will buy it anyway. Bungie has done a very good job on halo. I downloaded Doom? too, before release but i bought it. and now the doom3 retail box is on my desk *blink!*.

so my question is...MS wants to track all those bad ppl :pinch::

but how ? any spy attack with back door programs on xbox live updates is illegal.

I really hope Microsoft catches those ###### (excuse my French) that leaked it. Think of all the hard work Bungie did on the game, and then some jerks steal it from them. Okay, so maybe it won't really effect the sales, but it's still ****ty imo. I wonder how they managed to leak it :s

well it wouldnt really make any sence if they didnt put the 2nd one on pc, cause they had the first one on pc and those who loved it on the pc would be very dissapointed if the 2nd one didnt go to pc, plus M$ would lose out on a bunch of money they could make.

Just wait until it's released you fascist hores if your not happy. Or learn another language....

I personally know french, spanish and a pretty decent amount of chinese.... and trust me, when you apply for a job, and there's more than one candidate... IT WILL HELP YOU A LOT!

Catch the people that leaked it, fine them a billion or trillion. But not the users that downloaded it and play it. Those guys are Halo 2 fans.

If they fine $100,000 to all halo 2 fans, nobody will ever buy MS or Bungie games, or xbox2.

By the way, shouldn't there be an emulator for xbox from the first day? We have 100% compatible hardware, it's P3-700 and an nvidia chipset, it's not like trying to emulate a playstation that has a totally different cpu, is it?

anyone who has downloaded the release i guess would be able to swap the english language files for the french from the extracted iso?

anyway on a hypocritical note i find it sad that this has happened and would like to see headlines that read ' Neowin community helps find culprits'

      Apple reluctantly forces strict new age checks on Texas users starting today by Paul Hill Apple will begin enforcing the Texas Age Assurance Law (SB 2420) following a recent court ruling that lifted an injunction on SB 2420. Starting June 4 (today), Apple will enforce strict age-verification and parental-consent rules for new Apple accounts created in Texas. This move will affect children under 18 who go to download apps or attempt to make in-app purchases. Apple previously expressed privacy concerns related to this law, but compliance is now mandatory for the company, nevertheless. Apple will use several APIs to follow the law. Principally, the Declared Age Range API will fetch the specific user age bracket (Under 13, 13-15, 16-17, or 18+) and a verification method. The Significant Change API (PermissionKit) will trigger a system dialog for parental consent if an app gets a major update or an age-rating shift.
